They clean our air, provide shade and increase the aesthetics of homes and businesses. They may also provide fruit or nuts to us and/or wildlife, a playground for kids/grandkids, and lovely colors in the fall. Trees may be the center of landscapes or used as windbreaks or visual screens. Whether planted for enjoyment today, tomorrow or for grandkids-yet-to-be, people want to give trees the best chance of survival. Discover some methods to enhance their longevity and health by attending the Washington County Conservation Board?s ?Prepping Trees for Fall? program on Saturday, Sept. 20. This free program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park.
Conservation Board Ranger Mark Even will share his wide and varied tree expertise to both large and small landowners. He will mostly focus on how to prepare trees for the coming winter, including when and when not to prune, how to decide what to prune, fall planting, winter care, and much more. The public is also welcome to bring their own questions on tree care.
The session will include both an inside and outside portion, so be sure to dress for the weather. For the outside portion, Even will use Marr Park tree plantings to help landowners better visualize tree needs.
