County fair weigh-in dates set for sheep, goats

4-H/FFA sheep and goat exhibitors need to mark these dates for the official weigh-in and start dates to their projects. Goat weigh in is May 2 from 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the goat barn. Lambs will weigh-in on May 4 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. at the sheep barn.
All market lambs, feeder lambs, meat goats and dairy wethers must be weighed and tagged, and all commercial ewe lambs & meat goat does must be tagged to be eligible to be shown at the Washington County Fair.
There is a charge of $1 per animal for ear tags, paid the day of weigh-in.
State Fair requirements for sheep and goats:
' Members need to determine by weigh-in those animals they intend to take to the State Fair; $8 fee for each animal at each the State Fair.
' Any lamb or any goat going to the state fair must be retinal scanned.
' Retinal scanning will be completed for State Fair nominated animals.
Ak-Sar-Ben is a 4-H livestock show held in Nebraska the end of September. This exhibition is open to 4-H'ers and their livestock projects. New in 2019, exhibitors will nominate and register their livestock directly with Ak-Sar-Ben online.
