Landon and Samantha Rich exchanged wedding vows late Saturday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2014, under an oversized lighted crystal chandelier hanging from a huge oak tree in a lush green, groomed, shaded clearing surrounded by tall trees on the family farm south of Washington, while a harpist filled the air with music. Following short ceremonial nuptials, the couple exited by running underneath 3-foot sparklers held by the guests standing on both sides of the church pews.
Guests were escorted to the wedding site on hay wagons and after the ceremony were returned to the reception celebration pond site for a casual barbecue dinner. Multiple white wedding tents held white-covered tables and chairs with green ribbons. The tables were decorated with lit candles and white flower arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, orchids, and various colors of green and white fillers, along natural burlap runners. A special white tent served the bride and the groom. Family white linens topped green gingham tablecloths, and vanilla raspberry cream white cake, German chocolate cake and banana cream wedding cakes were served. A three-tiered raspberry cream wedding cake was adorned with the wedding cake topper used for the wedding of Landon?s grandparents Eugene and Deidre Zehr over 50 years ago. Most of the foods served were specially selected by the bride and groom to be either locally grown or homemade by friends and family especially for the event. A local disc jockey provided music during the meal and for dancing thereafter.
The bride wore a fitted strapless long lace gown with a blue cross that belonged to her grandmother. The groom and his brother, KC Rich, and the fathers of the bride and the groom wore matching light tan linen suits and white shirts, with leather suspenders.
Parents of the groom are Loren and Andrea Rich of Wayland. Parents of the bride are Steve and Dianne Little of Huntsville, Alabama. Grandparents of the groom are Deidre Zehr of Washington and the late Eugene Zehr, and Janice and Kenneth Rich of Wayland.
Landon and Samantha make their home near Huntsville, Alabama, where they both work at People Tech, Landon as the senior manufacturing engineer manager and Samantha as the senior project/process engineer.
The couple will be celebrating their first anniversary in the Bahamas.
