Dean and Letha McCulley of Columbus Junction will celebrate their 70th Wedding Anniversary on Nov.8, 2017. There will be a party in their honor at the Marion Avenue Baptist Church of Washington, Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 1 -3 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Dean and Letha were married on Nov. 8, 1947, at 11879 O Ave in Columbus Junction after dating for one year. They were married in the house of Letha?s parents, George Clifford and Pearl Louise Boulton. Those in attendance were the Rev. Standford who officiated the event, Dean?s brothers, Glen and Ruth McCulley, George C. Boulton, and Pen and Nellie Swams. They were members of the Louisa Center Church for 24 years. Letha had been attending the church since her teens. The McCulley?s became members of Marion Avenue Baptist Church in 1977. Dean was the head usher for 22 years and was known for hosting the annual usher?s banquet at his home for eight years.
Celebrating with Dean and Letha are their children: Jean (Howard) Dantuma, Dianne (Chet) Coolbaugh, and Rick Dean (Corrine) McCulley, looking on from Heaven. They have nine grandchildren: Paul Dantuma, Kathy McLemore, Chrys (Kevin) Vest, Phillip (Jessica) Coolbaugh, Debbie (Richard) Boucher, Teresa (Scott) Millman, Deana (Rich) LaRue, Melissa McCulley, and Patricia (John) Carroll.
They have 19 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Olivea, and Gavan Dean Dantuma, JaKayla Stevens, Daniel and Elizabeth McLemore, Keverly (Jeremy) DeWolf, Curtis (Holly) Vest, Malachi, Alenah, Arianna, and Maleah Coolbaugh, James Glen (Jennifer) Boucher, Sr., looking on from Heaven, Richard (Leslie) Boucher, Travis (Emily) Boucher, Mikayla Schultzen, McKenna Millman, Eleanor LaRue, and Sarah and Angela Carroll.

The McCulleys have always been well known for their love of Christ, their family, and their church. Dean and Letha have learned to show God?s love by being kind, caring, and they are always the first ones to call if they know that you are not doing well. They are very fun to talk to and pass the time of day anytime you go to visit them. Grandma is known for remembering all of the family members ?birthdays and anniversaries and sends a card to let you know that you are loved and remembered. Grandpa is known for his sense of humor and wanting to play with the grandkids whenever they go to visit him. When you marry into this family, they treat you as one of their own and show the same love to you that they do to anyone else in the family. All the stories we know about thier lives, and we have enjoyed hearing, we have the privelege to pass down to our children so that this wonderful couple will always be remembered for their love. ?One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.?- Psalms 145:4.
