Court McDermott meets in Washington

Court McDermott No. 504 met at Tobin Hall at St. James Church in Washington for their July meeting. Plans were made to celebrate the 100th court anniversary which was last year, but will be celebrated on Oct. 23 of this year with a Mass and brunch, which the public is welcome to attend. State officers and former priests will be invited.

Plans were also made to make apple pies again this year, which will be Saturday, Aug. 14 at 8 a.m. in the KC Hall Kitchen. Pies may be purchased by calling 319-657-3234. Leave a message.

Regent Schuerman conducted the meeting, Fr. Weir updated the group on the activity of the parish.

Refreshments were served by Deb Holland and Virginia Schuerman. Next meeting will be Thursday Aug. 12, 6:30 p.m. at Tobin Hall. Committee for next month is Mary Altenhofen, Marcella Reed, and Jean Bates.

Charlotte Lindmeier brought material to make place favors for Pearl Valley residents, and members helped with this project.
