Crawfordsville Lions Club considers partnering with Wayland club on Kidsight screenings

By Billie Jo Rose Mar. 30, 2021 1:00 am Updated: Mar. 30, 2021 12:57 pm

Lions Club

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, March 22, 2021 at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 12 members present. President Mike Massey called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Love gave the invocation.

The minutes of the March 8, 2021 meeting were approved with two corrections: the amount of the WACO Graduating Senior Scholarship is $500, not $250, as presented in the minutes and the name of the person requesting the After Prom donation is Brad Shelman. There was no treasurer's report.

Old Business: Lion President Mike has communicated with the Wayland Lions Club regarding our desire to partner with them regarding Kidsight screenings at the WACO Elementary School. They mentioned that screenings would take place in the fall of 2021.

Officers for the 2021-2022 Lions year were elected by unanimous ballot: President: Gene Miller; 1st Vice President: Randy Finke; 2nd Vice President: Jennie Greene; 3rd Vice President: Steve Williams; Secretary: Nancy Love; Treasurer: Randy Finke; Tail Twister: Larry Fletcher; Lion Tamer: Mike Massey; One Year Directors: Lance Miller Joel Greene and Two Year Directors: Luetta Greene and Billie Jo Rose.

New Business: Lion Luetta has contacted the guidance counselor at WACO High School with regard to scholarship applications. It was moved, seconded and approved to donate $250 to the Iowa Lions Foundation and $100 to Lions Club International Foundation. A possible Parade of Flags in the community was presented by Lion Nancy. Lions were encouraged to attend the State Convention May 21-22 at Camp Courageous.

There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting adjourned. The March Committee, Arvid Anderson, Larry Swailes and Lance Miller provided delicious refreshments.
