The Crawfordsville Lions Club held their Installation Banquet on Monday evening, September 9, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville.
In attendance were Scott and Jeanne Davis, Darrell Egli, Randy Finke, Donna Fletcher, Joel and Luetta Greene, Jennie Greene, David and Lisa Jewell, Larry and Nancy Love, Mike and Shirley Massey and Shirley's mother, Ramona Von Sprecken, Gene and Pat Miller, Lance Miller, Billie Jo Rose and Mindy Wilson. Special guest was District SE District Governor Michael Renken.
Lion President Mindy Wilson called the meeting to order leading the Pledge of Allegiance and District 9SE District Governor Michael Renken offered prayer.
Following a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler and her daughter, Lara Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
Lion Mindy thanked Alice and Lara for the meal and for serving. She then introduced District Governor Renken, who is serving his third term as District Governor. He spoke of the duties and accomplishments of our club and the need for leaders in Lionism. He said four things Lions represent and promote are Kindness, Compassion, Change and Hope.
He encouraged young people to step up to the challenge and cited an instance when young people in a club volunteered to set up a room and there were many changes, which at first weren't accepted well, but when they had the time to think about it, they came to realize change was a good thing and the young ones should be encouraged to step up and offer their ideas.
The next order of business was the Installation of Officers for the 2024-2025 year. District Governor Renken installed the following: 2 Year Directors: Luetta Greene and Larry Love; 1 Year Directors: Gene Lintz and Joel Greene. President: Scott Davis; 1st Vice President: Randy Finke; 2nd Vice President: Steve Williams; 3rd Vice President: Billie Jo Rose; Secretary: Billie Jo Rose; Treasurer: Randy Finke; Tail Twister: Randy Finke and Lion Tamer: Mike Massey.
Following installation of the officers, the gavel and Past President's Pin was passed from Past President Wilson to incoming President Davis. He then announced the upcoming Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, September 14 from 7-9:30 a.m. at the Fire Station. Everyone is to meet at 6 a.m. Saturday to help set-up for the event.
A monetary gift of $50 in the District Governor's name was L.C.I.F.
There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting adjourned.
