Crawfordsville Lions Club installs new officers

The Crawfordsville Lions met Monday evening, Sept. 12, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville for their annual Installation Banquet. In attendance were Arvid and Joan Anderson, Scott and Jeanne Davis, Darrell Egli, Randy Finke, Larry and Donna Fletcher, Joel and Luetta Greene, Jennie Greene, Larry and Nancy Love, Mike and Shirley Massey and Shirley's mother, Ramona Von Sprecken, Gene and Pat Miller, Lance Miller, Billie Jo Rose and Mindy Wilson. Special guests present were District 9SE District Governor Mike Renken and wife, Linda.
Lion President Gene Miller called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Council Chair Nancy Love gave the invocation.
Following the delicious meal prepared and served by Alice and Lara Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
Lion Council Chair Love then introduced 9SE District Governor Mike Renken. He resides in Lockridge and has served on the City Council, is a retired minister and has been very active in Lions, holding different offices, including Zone Chair. His motto for 2022-23 is "Together we accomplish more." "That is how Lions work together, we work and have fun along the way." He stressed "service from the heart." He commended the Crawfordsville Club on their projects, such as the community Christmas Drawing and Pancake Breakfasts and Supper, which are held annually.
Awards presented by Council Chair Love and District Governor Renken were: International President's Certificate of Appreciation Award to Lion Billie Jo Rose for her service to the Club and International President's Award to Lion Arvid Anderson for 69 years of faithful service. District Governor Renken then presented perfect attendance awards: 43 Years: Mike Massey and Randy Finke; 32 Years: Scott Davis; 20 Years: Gene Miller and 13 Years: Billie Jo Rose.
The installation of officers was the next order of business. New officers for the 2022-2023 year are: President: Randy Finke; 1st Vice President: Mindy Wilson; 3rd Vice President: Billie Jo Rose; Secretary: Nancy Love/Billie Jo Rose; Treasurer: Randy Finke; Lion Tamer: Mike Massey; 1 Year Directors: Scott Davis and Joel Greene; 2-Year Director: Larry Love; and Club Administrator: Nancy Love. Each officer was presented with the District Governor's pin.
Mindy Wilson was presented the Warren Coleman Award and Jennie Greene, the Si Finke Lion of the Year Award.
Following installation the gavel and President's Pin were passed from Past President Miller to incoming President Randy Finke.
The meeting reconvened and a monetary gift was presented in District Governor Renken's name to L.C. I. F. Lion Larry Love spoke about the International Convention he and Nancy attended in Montreal. He mentioned International President Brian Sheehan was a real down to earth person, coming from a small town in Minnesota. His theme for the year is "Together We Can."
It was mentioned that the recent Pancake Breakfast was a success.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.

Noah Hochstetler, son of J.B. and Carla Hochstetler of Syracuse, IN and his friend, Garrett spent the Labor Day weekend with his grandparents, Joey and Alice Hochstetler and also attended the Iowa Hawkeye football game.
Crawfordsville Community Club
The Crawfordsville Community Club recently held an ice cream social and people attending were encouraged to bring school supplies for the WACO Elementary School or cash donations. Supplies were given to the school and money realized was given to the teachers in the form of Amazon gift cards.
