The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Nov. 9, at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Twelve members and one prospective member, Jodi Greiner, were present.
Lion President Mike Massey called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Nancy Love gave the invocation. After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
The first order of business was the induction of new member Jodi Greiner into the Crawfordsville Club. With a unanimous vote, 1st Vice District Governor Lion Nancy Love conducted the induction ceremony. Lion Billie Jo Rose was her sponsor.
The Secretary read the minutes from the October 25 meeting which were approved as read. The treasurer gave his report.
Old Business: Members were reminded that Christmas lights will be put up the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 28 at 3 p.m. The blood drive will be the first Monday in December, December 7. Logistics for the Christmas drawing were discussed in keeping with mask-wearing and social distancing practices during the pandemic. One idea was to have the drawing up under the carport, as a drive up on the west side of the church, where residents would drive up, show their card and receive their prize. The state of the 4-H Bake Sale is still in question. Two ideas were suggested----to have the bake sale at the Crawfordsville Community Room or at the Legion Hall. One other idea was to forego having a Grand Prize winner and donating it instead to the 4-H Club, if they are unable to have their bake sale. There will be more information on all this at the next meeting.
New Business: The Christmas Party will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room for Lions members only. Lions Luetta and Billie Jo will take care of procuring pizza for the group. The Pancake Supper is set for the third Saturday evening in February. A date has already been reserved at the meat locker for the butchering of the pig.
It is time to make the annual donations to the ILf and LCIF: due to diminishing funds in the club's account, a partial donation will be made to both at this time. If possible, over the course of the year, the difference will be made up to both foundations.
Lion Nancy reminded Lions of the upcoming District Convention on November 13 and 14 at the Golf Club in Burlington. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
New Lion Jodi Greiner was invited to introduce herself to the club and talk a bit about herself and her family. Welcome, Lion Jodi.
The WACO Food Pantry will be held Thursday, Nov. 19 and will be open for Seniors from 2-3:30 p.m. and for all others 3:30-6 p.m.
