Crawfordsville Lions Club meets

The Crawfordsville Lions met Monday evening, January 9, 2023 in the Crawfordsville Community Room for the monthly dinner meeting with 13 members present.
President Finke called the meeting to order leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Council Chair Nancy Love gave the invocation.
Following a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler the meeting reconvened. Secretary Rose read the minutes of the November 28, 2023 meeting and also minutes from December Happenings. They were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: The Christmas drawing was reported a success. The town lights will be taken down in the near future. The money had been paid to the scholarship fund and a donation was given to World Indigenous Missions.
New Business: Thank you notes were read from those receiving gifts at the drawing and from Camp Courageous for the club's donation. The club's Pancake Supper will be held Saturday, February 18 from 4-7 p.m. Pancakes, Sausage, Eggs and drinks will be available for dine in or carry out at the Fire Station. A free will offering will be accepted. 4-H kids will be asked to help out. Lion Larry Love is in charge of seeing the pigs get to Bud's by January 31 or very early February 1.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
President Finke conducted a quiz, "Do You Know Your Money?"
United Church Women
The United Church Women met Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Crawfordsville with eight ladies in attendance.
Debbie Lowe opened the meeting with prayers from: Jesus Listens by Sarah Young and Prayers That Avail Much by Germaine Copland, Word Ministries, Inc. These were followed by everyone reading the Opening Creed in unison.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the November 8 meeting and the December 13 women's luncheon and they were approved as read.
The Treasurer, Pat Miller gave her report and it will be filed for audit.

Thank you letters had been received from missions the group supports.
Committee Reports:
Local Activities:
One funeral luncheon had been served to 50 people.
Dorcas:
One quilt had been tied and four had been sent to have batting and backs put on.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts:
A few New Years cards had been sent to members, along with Christmas cards.
Study & Devotions/ Mission Outreach:
It was reported the Mission Committee would be having a January meeting.
Old Business:
More people are needed for the spring and fall rummage sale committees and
Everyone was asked to check to see if their phone numbers in the back of the program book were correct.
New Business;
It was suggested that donations to projects be considered mid-year instead of end-of-year, possibly after each rummage sale.

Following a motion to adjourn Debbie thanked Cathy for stepping in to be hostess.
The Closing Creed was read together.
Debbie's closing thoughts: "I regret often that I have spoken, never that I have been silent." She also closed with proverbs 10:19.
