The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, Jan. 23 in the Crawfordsville Community Room with 12 members present. Lion President Finke opened the meeting leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Love gave the prayer.
Secretary Rose read the minutes of the Jan. 9 meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business:
The upcoming Pancake Supper was once again discussed. There was much discussion about purchasing eggs. It was even brought to everyone's attention that it is possible to buy bagged eggs. Discussion was also held concerning advertising for the supper. Jennie Greene has made posters to be distributed. Lion Rose will contact local newspapers. President Finke has checked on prices at various places for folding chairs that are needed for the Community Room/Fire Station.
New Business:
Lilly Clark, scholarship recipient sent a thank-you note for the second half scholarship money she had received.
A letter was passed from the Lions Club International for a Membership Satisfaction Award, which was a Membership Satisfaction Banner Patch. The Club earned one last year, also. The local club lives up to the Lions Mission Statement, which empowers volunteers to serve their community and meet humanitarian needs. All this to continue the Lions commitment to Give Service from the Heart.
The Lions 9SE District Convention will be held March 24-25 at Iowa Wesleyan University in Mt. Pleasant.
A motion was made seconded and carried to once again give a $500 Scholarship to a graduating WACO senior.
There will only be one meeting in February. The Pancake Supper will count as the second meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Lion Finke entertained with some trivia about Historic Hot Spots and a quiz on I Love Lucy.
Joann Love of Washington hosted her family at a post-Christmas gathering at Halcyon House on January 15. Present were Larry and Nancy Love of Crawfordsville; Sharon and Jeff Ryder of North Liberty; Cheryl and Tyler Burns, Ryder and Avery of North Liberty; Sonya Love-Smith and Audrey of Keosauqua; Maggie and Tyler Robertson, Kinsley and Noah of Mt. Pleasant; Wesley Love, Lawson and Isaac of Ainsworth; Jamie Brames and Kylee of Washington; Betsy and Jesse Lasek and Preston of Ainsworth; Loren Love and Amy Ryan, Carson and Campbell of Grimes; and Riley Love and friend Jason of Johnston.
