Crawfordsville Lions Club meets
CRAWFORDSVILLE NEWS

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, Nov. 13 at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 12 members present. Lion President Wilson opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Nancy Love led in prayer.
Following the meal prepared by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
Secretary Rose read the minutes of the October 23, 2023 meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: The Christmas Drawing was discussed and Lion Joel had lists of those to be contacted for prizes. It was announced that DeLovely's would have their trailer set up the day of the drawing outside the Fire Station and proceeds will go to the Firemen.
The February Pancake Supper was discussed and the pigs will need to be delivered 2 1/2 weeks prior.
New Business: Contributions to L.C.I. F. and t0 I.L.F. was approved.
The town Christmas lights will be put up Saturday, Nov. 25 at 9 a.m.
A letter was received from PCC Paul Hain, District 9SE LCIF Coordinator requesting a visit to our club. Lion Nancy will invite him.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned, followed by a round of trivia by Tail Twister Finke.
UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
The United Church Women met Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall with eight ladies present.
The meditation given by Margaret Patterson cited Phillipians: 4:12 and Reminded us of God's presence. Each present was given the opportunity to write down things they were thankful for.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the September 12, 2023 meeting and they were approved as read.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave her report and it will be filed for audit. She reminded everyone to turn in their Blessing Boxes and it was decided to send the money received to World Central Kitchens and Tunnels to Towers. It was noted one of the Youth had recently participated in Bible Memory Camp at Crooked Creek.

Committee Reports:
Local Activities: The ladies will pay for stuffing at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Wayland.
Dorcas: Donna reported childrens quilts were taken to HACAP and several to area residents who had recently been hospitalized or in nursing homes and two were donated for the harvest sale.
Cards, Flowers and Gifts: A variety of cards had been sent.
Mission Outreach: New program books for 2024 will be made up soon and a sign-up sheet was passed around for people to volunteer for hostesses, meditations and committees.
Old Business: Payment for stuffing for the Thanksgiving dinner.
New Business: There will be dispersal of monies to the remaining five missions listed in the program book.

Next Meeting: December 12 Christmas Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. It was decided to meet at El Mariachi Mexican Restaurant in Winfield. Cathy Williams will be hostess and have meditations.
Dorcas: Next Meeting: November 27, December 11 and January 8.
Work Committees: November: Cathy; December: Marlene and January: Debbie.
Adjournment: Following a motion to adjourn Debbie thanked Rachel for hostessing. The Closing Cree was read together.
Debbie closed with the following "Everyone has an invisible sign hanging from his neck saying, Make me feel important." Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
WEDNESDAY STUDY CLUB
The Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met at the Frontier Family Restaurant in Washington at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Cathy Williams oversaw arrangements.
Desserts and coffee were enjoyed as members talked about "What was a Thanksgiving disaster that you remember?" As well as, what special dishes that each prepare for Thanksgiving feasts.
Books were brought to share.
Those attending were Ruth Erwin, Rachel Koehler, Debbie Lowe, Pauline Richardson, Joyce Roth, Janice Twinam and Cathy Williams.
The next meeting will be March 20, 2024. Rachel will be the hostess and the time and place will be announced later.
