The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, January 13, 2025 for a dinner meeting at the Crawfordsville Community Room with twelve members present.
The meeting opened with President Scott Davis leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Love gave the invocation.
Following the delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler the meeting reconvened.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose gave the secretary's report of the November 25, 2023 meeting and also reports of the Blood Drive on December 2, 2024, Christmas dinner at Miller Homestead Cooking on December 10, 2024 and the Lions Christmas Drawing on December 14. All were approved as read. A little history on the Christmas Drawing, it began at the old Fire Station, east of the Peoples Savings Bank 70 years ago,1954 and a total of $135 worth of merchandise was handed out. The treasurer's report was given by Randy Finke.
Old Business: The town Christmas lights were taken down Saturday, December 28. Helping with this was Scott Davis, Randy Finke, Joel Greene, Gene Miller and Josh Hesseltine. Thank you to Rush Brentlinger who volunteered his truck to help put the lights up and also take them down. It was much appreciated.
The upcoming Pancake Supper was discussed. It will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. Pancakes, Sausage, Eggs and Drinks will be offered for a free-will offering. Dine in or carry out. Advertising will be in charge of Jennie Greene and Billie Jo Rose. 4-H Club members will be asked to assist with the serving.
New Business: A thank you note was read from the Iowa Lions Foundation for the club's donation .
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Tail Twister Finke entertained with interesting trivia on local events.
CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT
The Crawfordsville Community Club will sponsor a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 5 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station, 105 North Main Street. Admission is $20 per team, Double Elimination. Grand Prize: 1/2 of the total pot.
