The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Oct. 11 at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 members present.
Lion President Gene Miller called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and led the invocation. After a delicious meal of beef stew, homemade biscuits and peach cobbler prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
The first order of business: Minutes from the Sept. 13 meeting which were approved as read. The treasurer gave his report. It was noted that he purchased handmade burgers for Crawfordsville Fun Days instead of the usual frozen patties. It was also noted they ran out before we intended to finish serving.
For the Sept. 25 Pancake Breakfast, it was noted we had 25-30 carry outs and cooked 210 burgers and only had 12 left over.
Other business: A thank you from District Governor Nancy for the donation to LCIF in her name was passed around for the club to read. It was moved, seconded and approved to host the District 9SE Convention April 8 and 9, as is the tradition for the District Governor's home club. It will be held at Dallmeyer Hall in Washington. Possibilities for the noon meal on Saturday were briefly discussed.
Lion Billie Jo will be taking over the December Blood Drive and she reported the Christmas party will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at an Amish home near Kalona.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Carolyn Love, Betsy and Preston Lasek joined Sonya-Love Smith and Audrey and Kenny Kruse for the Fall Festival in Van Buren County last weekend. They attended the parade in Keosauqua and attended many vendor sites in the area around Bentonsport and Bonaparte and picked up some Halloween decorations.
