Crawfordsville Lions Club meets

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Feb. 14 at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 13 members present.

Lions Club President Gene Miller opened the meeting by leading the Pledge to the Flag and Lion Secretary Nancy Oehler gave the opening prayer.

After a festive taco bar prepared and catered by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.

The minutes of the January 24, 2022, meeting were approved as read. In the absence of the treasurer, the secretary gave the financial report.

Old Business: It was reiterated that the District Convention will be virtual on April 9 from 9 a.m. until noon on the Zoom platform. Despite the fact that they will not be meeting in person for that event, there will be some expenses involved: approximately $150-$200 for the gift for International Director Deb Weaverling and a donation to LCIF in her name, postage for a gift and an expense incurred for the voting app.

Members were encouraged to donate items for a silent auction on the District's Facebook page to offset the cost of these things. Items for the auction should be brought to the March 14 meeting.

A reminder was made about the Pancake Supper on Saturday evening, Feb. 19 at the City Hall/Fire Station from 4-7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken. This is to be a dine-in or carry-out event. Set-up will be Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and tables will be set up in both areas.

New Business: It was moved, seconded and approved to donate $100 to the WACO After-Prom committee. It was noted that the Iowa Lion Magazine will be available by subscription in the amount of $35 per year, starting in July. Fire Chief Roy Felts has offered to take care of selling the grills that we no longer use that are stored in the fire station. This was approved by consensus.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
