Apr. 22, 2022 3:23 pm
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, April 11, 2022 in the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 members and one guest, Karen Dennler present.
Lions President Gene Miller opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and also offered prayer. Guest Karen Dennler was introduced to the group.
Following a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened with Karen Dennler, Juvenile Probation Officer for both Washington and Jefferson County speaking to the group about the duties and responsibilities of her office. She deals with juveniles under the age of 18, but has had one as young as eight years. Many issues are school and mental health related. Karen has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work and has headquartered in Washington County for eight years and worked for DHS for eighteen. A lively discussion followed as the group had many questions for her.
Following Karen's presentation, the business meeting proceeded. The minutes of the March 28, 2022 meeting were read by Lion Billie Jo Rose and approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
The President of the Community Club asked to be put on the agenda for the next meeting, which is April 25.
Lion Rose read a letter from DG Love sharing her thoughts on the club moving to one meeting a month and gave her perspective on what consequences that could bring. She mentioned the importance of increasing membership, having guest speakers and doing community service projects.
Old Business: Lion Larry Love reported on the virtual District Convention. The keynote speaker was Deb Weaverling of Baschor, KS. She mentioned there could be some redistricting of Lions Districts by 2024.
Lion Rose mentioned she has a community service project in mind. Lions Davis and L. Love will look into that.
A motion was made by Lion Finke and seconded by Lion Joel Greene to meet at the cemetery for the next meeting on April 25 at 6:30 p.m. to do some trimming.
There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting adjourned.
