Lions Club
The Crawfordsville Lions met Monday, June 13, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with thirteen members present. Lion President Gene Miller called the meeting to order with the Pledge Of Allegiance and also gave the invocation.
After a delicious dinner prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
Lion Secretary Nancy Love read the minutes of the May 23 meeting, which were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: The recent Blood Drive was very successful. Thanks to Lions Rose and Jewell for coordinating it. We surpassed our goal of 38 pints, collecting 46. A thank you will be written to the Worship Committee of the United Church of Crawfordsville for donating the desserts that were left over from the Fish Fry.
The club will be serving the noon meal for Crawfordsville Fun Day, July 9 from 11 a.m-1 p.m. The menu will be pork burgers, baked beans, chips and drinks. All for a free-will offering. This will be held at the Fire Station. Thanks to Lion Jennie Greene for the 250 pork burgers that are being donated by Eichelberger Farms. Lion Secretary Nancy will write a thank you for this generous donation.
New Business: Alice has agreed to serving our meals at our dinner meetings at the current price next year. She also will be serving our Installation Banquet on September 12 at the United Church of Crawfordsville. After much discussion the group decided they would like ham balls, cheesy potatoes, green beans. salad, pie and ice cream. Lion President Gene will speak to her about this. More information, as to price, etc. will be shared later.
Since the Fall Pancake Breakfast is before the first meeting of the new Lions year, Lion Secretary Nancy will send out a detailed letter as to the roles of each Lion member for the event.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Special Birthday Celebrations:
Nancy Love made a trip to Naples, Florida over Memorial Day weekend for the very special occasion of celebrating birthdays. Her mother, Judy's was on May 29 and Nancy's on May 31. Nancy's father had arranged for a delicious birthday cake and helium balloons. They enjoyed their joint celebration, which they have for many years!
Carmen Steele of Omaha, Nebraska visited over the Memorial weekend with her parents, Doug and Carol Steele.
