Crawfordsville Lions Club meets

Ten Lions members and two guests, Lion Trustee, David Heitmann and Shirley Massey met Monday evening, Nov. 14, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. for their dinner meeting at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Lion President Gene Miller led the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Love offered prayer.
Following a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler the meeting reconvened and Iowa Lions Foundation Trustee, David Heitmann of Victor, IA spoke to the group about his role in the Foundation. He reported that their offices had moved from Ames to Marshalltown. He also told of the different things the Foundation supports such as the Iowa Lions Cochlear Implant, the Kidsight, the Eye Bank, the Hearing Aid Bank and Eye Glass Recycling. He went over the Lions Foundation Budget for 2022-23 and explained many of the items in the budget.
The Secretary's report given by Lion Rose was approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business:
The Christmas drawing was discussed and Lion Joel Greene passed out lists for people to contact that wish to contribute items for the giveaway. A motion was made and carried for the Lions to once again offer a $100 Grand Prize. It will be held Saturday, Dec. 17 at the CrawfordsvilleThe local 4-H Club will offer a Bake Sale at noon at City Hall, followed by an appearance by Santa at 12:30 p.m. and the drawing at 1 p.m. at the Fire Station. Numbered cards will be mailed to area residents to bring back to the drawing enabling them to win a prize.
New Business:
It was decided to put up the town's Christmas Decorations on Saturday, November 26. 2022 at 9 a.m.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to raise the club's donation to both, I.L.F. and L.C. I. F.
The Christmas dinner was once again discussed and it was decided to go to Kalona and menu items were selected.
There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting adjourned.
WASHINGTON COUNTY 4-H FAMILY of the YEAR
Congratulations to the Steve and Pam Davis family for being chosen the 2022 Washington County 4-H Family of year. This makes five generations in Pam's family that have been involved in Washington County 4-H. She has been a 4-H leader for 23 years, following in her mother's footsteps and Steve has been a fair board member and their four children showed sheep and are still actively involved with sheep, either on weigh-ins, show day and auctions and continue to be actively involved as 4-H grandparents.
Community Thanksgiving DINNER
A free Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be held at WACO High School in Wayland on Thanksgiving Day. Serving Time is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Take out is available. Free-will donation. Contact Pastor Greg Stacy, Wayland Ministries at 319-431-0576.
WACO FOOD PANTRY SUPPLIES
Through the month of November, the United Church of Crawfordsville is collecting canned food, boxed food, paper products, and hygiene supplies for the WACO Food Pantry.
DECORATE THE CHURCH
Everyone is welcome to come and help decorate the church for Christmas the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26. The first Sunday of Advent is November 27.
