Crawfordsville Lions Club to hold Christmas drawing

The Crawfordsville Lions will hold their annual Christmas Drawing on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. You might want to bring your lawn chair! Beginning at 12 o'clock the 4-H Club will hold a Bake Sale, at 12:30 Santa will make his appearance and at 1 p.m. the Drawing will begin. Cards have been mailed to area residents, but there will be cards available that day if some didn't receive them. Area merchants and local residents donate everything from meat products, services from businesses and monetary gifts.
MORE THANKSGIVING NEWS
Tim and Kim Hochstetler, Alena, Bennett and Corina from Goshen, Indiana and Lara Hochstetler from Kalona spent from Wednesday through the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at the home of their parents, Joe and Alice Hochstetler. They all enjoyed the lighted Christmas parade in Washington while here.
The Davis family got together for a noon meal at the United Church of Crawfordsville. Turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, along with all the fixings were enjoyed by all who attended. Games and socializing continued following the meal.
Those in attendance were: Ernie and Janet Whiting, Columbus City; Alyson Whiting, Kansas City; Duane Lewis, Scott and Emily Boylan, Ryleigh and Avery, Scott and Jeannne Davis, Rebecca Davis, Sanford and Nancy Rugg, Uriah and Shannon Rugg and Sawyer, all from Crawfordsville; Levi and Alisha Kelley, Cecil and Leah, Wellman; Marcus and Brittany Davis Makinley, Brysen and Merrick Davis, Mt. Pleasant; and Chelsea and Clariss Rugg , Angela Davis and Chris and Chayse McClain, all of Washington.
Wayne and Debbie Lowe spent the week of Thanksgiving in Cheyenne, WY with their daughter Renee and Wayne's sister and family, Patricia and Mike Klopfenstein. They enjoyed celebrating Pat's birthday on Tuesday evening with their niece, Michelle and husband, T.J Kirkbride and nephew, Kris: Renee, Mike and Pat. Thanksgiving dinner was at the home of T.J. and Michelle with family and friends.
WILTFANG THANKSGIVING
On Thanksgiving Day, Ark and Jan Wong hosted a family Thanksgiving dinner at their home in Cedar Rapids. Guests of honor were son, Jason and his fiancee May Chong Chan, who were home visiting for the first time since moving to California last year.
Also in attendance was daughter, Pamela and husband, Jason Wiltfang, Bradley, Jackson and Ava of North Liberty and Dan and Linda Wiltfang of Crawfordsville, Charlie and Ivy Wong, Aaron and Vincent from Cedar Rapids, and Ark's brother and sister, Chad and Dehlia Wong.
Everyone enjoyed the wonderful dinner that featured favorite Chinese dishes as well as the traditional Thanksgiving fare.The kids kept things lively jumping on the trampoline outdoors and playing games indoors.
All left carrying a bag of leftovers, feeling abundantly well fed, thankful for the fellowship of family and friends and the multitude of blessings all shared.
CRAWFORDSVILLE LIONS CLUB
The regular meeting was held Monday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 13 members present. Lion President Wilson opened by leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Love offered prayer.
The minutes of the November 13 meeting were approved as read by Secretary Rose and Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: The upcoming Club Christmas dinner was discussed and Lion Rose offered their options for choice of meat and pies. The group made their choices and Rose will contact members and make reservations.
The February 17, 2024 Pancake Supper was visited once again and Lion Love will check on procuring pigs.
It was reported that the town Christmas lights are up and those giving their time for that were Lions Davis, Finke, Joel Greene, Lintz, Massey and Mike's grandson, Marty and Gene Miller.
New Business: Lion Nancy reported she had been in contact with Lion Paul Hain, District 9 SE LCIF Coordinator and he and his wife, Sylvis, who is a Trustee of the Iowa Lions Foundation and they will pay us a visit on Monday, January 8, 2024 to tell of their work.
Members were reminded of the upcoming Blood Drive, Monday, December 4 at the United Church of Crawfordsville from 1:30-6:30 p.m.
Tail Twister Randy and Lion Fletcher entertained with some trivia and Lion Joel Greene found some old Lion song books and several selections were enjoyed.
Refreshments were served by the Greene's.
