The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, Feb. 10, 2025 for their dinner meeting at the Crawfordsville Community Room with twelve members and seven guests present.
President Scott Davis called the meeting to order leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Larry Fletcher gave the invocation.
Following the delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. President Davis welcomed the seven guests from the Winfield Lions Club, Larry and Donna Montross, Ronnie and Ruth Van Auken, Bob and Lori Paisley and Larry Jennings.
Lion Larry Montross told about some children's projects he has been working on to entertain them when special events are taking place. His latest is small train cars that they can ride in and these can be pulled with garden tractors. He previously took a gravity box and attached basketball hoops for the children to shoot baskets. They have found this to be quite entertaining. The Crawfordsville Club used this at the Crawfordsville Fun Days last July and the kids really enjoyed it.
These are available to other club's when they have events.
Secretary Rose read the minutes of the Jan. 27, 2025 meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: It was announced that Lion Gene Miller has tickets for the pancake supper. Set-up for the supper will be at 9 a.m. the morning of the supper, Feb. 22. Several posters were brought in for distribution and Lion Rose has contacted the newspapers about the event and will contact KCII and KILJ radio stations. Some members of the Community Club have been contacted to help bring the grills down.
It was mentioned again about our donation to Camp Courageous and that will be done in May.
New Business: There was a letter from the Lions Youth Camp asking for our support and one from Chelle Lehman, Program Manager of Iowa KidsSight asking if our Club would like to invite her to come talk to us and share her mission of the importance of early vision screening and the success they've had and how the Lion's Clubs have been instrumental in their efforts.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned and Tail Twister Finke entertained with some very interesting facts about Iowa.
