The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Feb. 10, 202o at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 15 members present. The meeting was opened by President Larry Swailes who led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Gene Miller gave the opening prayer. After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
The minutes of the Jan. 27, 2020 meeting were approved as read. The treasurer's report was given by Lion treasurer Randy Finke.
Old Business: It was moved, seconded and approved to donate to Lion Jennie Greene for her mission trip to Haiti in March with GoServ Global, a portion of the proceeds from the upcoming Pancake and Sausage Supper. Final details were confirmed for the supper on the Feb. 15. It was noted that Lion Secretary Nancy has written a thank you to the Vittetoes for their donation of hogs for the sausage and she included tickets to the supper.
New Business: The Crooked Creek 4-H Club is asking for donations for a Baked Potato Supper to be held at WACO High School on April 4 to benefit Camp Courageous. This was tabled. The Crawfordsville Community Community Club asked the Lions to serve lunch at Crawfordsville Days in July. A motion was made, seconded and approved to do this.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
I want to apologize for inadvertently omitting Larry Love's name from the list of those who received the Monarch Chevron Award for 45 years in Lions.
This year, Ash Wednesday services will be held at the Ainsworth Community Church on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
The Crawfordsville Community Club will host a Spaghetti Supper at the Crawfordsville Fire Station on Saturday, March 14 from 4-7 p.m. A free will offering will be taken. Funds will go toward future events in Crawfordsville.
