The Crawfordsville Lions met Monday evening, May 13, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 present. Lion President Adam Mitchell opened the meeting leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Gene Miller gave the opening prayer.
Following a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler the meeting reconvened. The secretary's report given by Lion Billie Jo Rose was approved as read. Treasurer Lion Randy Finke gave his report.
Old business:
Following much discussion concerning the school's participation in the Blood Drive on June 3, the club agreed to sponsor it on a trial basis.
New business:
President Mitchell announced that the Crawfordsville Community Club will once again be having Crawfordsville Fun Days, Friday, July 5 and 6. On Friday evening, a Bags Tournament and movie will be shown at the ball park. On Saturday morning, the Crawfordsville Fireman will hold a pancake breakfast and there will be water fights uptown in front of the Fire Station. Saturday will also feature a parade. Almost all activities except these will be held at the ball park, including ball games, bouncy house, etc. Lunch of hot dogs, pop, chips, etc., will be served by the Lions, beginning at noon and lasting as long as needed .
Lion Jennie Greene will be presenting the Lions Scholarship on Tuesday evening at Awards Night to a WACO graduate.
The club is remembering Lion Larry Fletcher, as he has had knee surgery.
There will be no second meeting in May due to it falling on Memorial Day. On Monday, June10, the Lions will meet at the Ball Park at 6:30 p.m., weather permitting, for a picnic supper.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Audrey Smith participated in the 2019 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Eastern National IBO 3D Challenge in Louisville, Ky., on Friday, May 10. Audrey was one of the three elementary archers who participated from Lincoln Elementary in Washington, She shot 257 out of 300 possible points. This placed her 62 out of 597 elementary school girl archers who participated. She ranked 52 out of 385 fiftth grade girls there.
While traveling to Kentucky Audrey, her mom, Sonya Love-Smith and grandmother, Carolyn Love, stopped in Crawfordsville, Ind., and toured the Rotary Jail Museum.
The United Church Women met Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall with nine members, Pastor Jason Collier and one guest, Shirley Pfeifer, present.
The meditation was given by Clarissa Malmberg. It was based on the book, 'Walk, Don't Run, ' by Rob Bell. 'Walk-don't run so we will see the 'whole world.” Clarissa shared a personal experience to relate to the importance of having a quiet time and taking time to be available and listen to our thoughts.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone, especially guest, UMW Shepherdess Shirley Pfeifer. The Opening Creed was read in unison.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read.
The treasurer's report was given by Pat Miller and will be filed for audit.

A thank you note was read for a memorial.

Ovens: All are now in working order and can be used.
A new larger microwave is now in place and ready to use.
Dorcas:
Wilma reported four quilts were finished on May 13.
Cards, flowers and gifts:
The usual cards were sent.
An Easter lily was purchased for Easter.
Memorial Fund: A donation was made in Verna Spangler's name.
Study and devotions/mission outreach:
The Least Coin offering was taken and the Prayer of the Fellowship of the Least Coin was recited. Clarissa reviewed the Prayer Calendar, three missionaries' birthdays were on the calendar.
Old business:
The Davis Girls will be serving the Alumni Banquet on June 9.
New business:
The Summer Lunch Program will be prepared by Cathy Williams and Clarissa Malmberg. There will not be as many days this year that the women will be preparing lunches.
Shirley Pfeifer shared 'A Day Apart” activities held at the Riverside Church, the UMW School of Mission's second year of Social Action. She brought a visual display of 150 years of the United Methodist Women's Missionary Service starting in the 1800s. 'Women can get something done.”

Next regular meeting will be July 9, 2019. There is no June meeting. Meditation: Deb Lowe. Hostess: Joyce Huff.

Following the motion to adjourn, the Closing Creed was read in unison.
