Word has been received here from Mike Lowe of Brea, California, of the death of his father, Robert Lowe, age 90, also of Brea, California, on Jan. 5, 2020. He was the youngest of eight children born to Clarence and Nina Lowe of Crawfordsville and was a 1946 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He is survived by 16 nieces and nephews, many in this area. Services and burial were held Monday, Jan. 13, 2020 in Whittier, California.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 17 members and one guest, Mary Egli present.
Lion President Larry Swailes called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and Lion Secretary Nancy Love gave the invocation. After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. The minutes of the Nov. 25, 2019 meeting were approved as read. Treasurer Randy Finke gave his report.
Old Business: Lion Joel Greene reported on the Christmas Drawing. There were 170 gifts and 105 participants. There were 12 Santa bags left over. A thank-you note was read from Carolyn Love, who had won the grand prize of $100. A thank-you note was also presented from Lions Club's International for the club's $200 donation. The Christmas lights have been taken down. Lion Gene Lintz will change some of the old bulbs to LED bulbs.
New Business: A banner patch was presented for 2018-2019 membership goals. It was moved, seconded and approved to donate to WACO after-prom committee. Tickets for the Pancake Supper will be ready this week and delivered to Lion Gene Miller for distribution. Lion Larry Love is in charge of procuring the pig. Lion Jennie Greene is working on a Facebook page for the club. The following Monarch Chevron Awards were presented: Darrell Egli-50 years; Joel Greene-40 years; Scott Davis-30 years; Luetta Greene-25 years; Billie Jo Rose-10 years and Mindy Wilson-10 years. The following Lions were not present to receive their awards: Steve Williams-10 years; Janice Williams-10 years and Loree Stogdill-10 years.
There being no further business to come before the club, the meeting adjourned.
The Tail Twister, Lion Larry Fletcher led the club in a rousing, but brief round of trivia.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club will hold a Pancake and Sausage supper on Saturday evening, Feb. 15. 2020, at the WACO Elementary School. Serving time is 4-7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased from any Lions member or at Agri-Way Partners.
