Floyd and Pauline Richardson attended the graduation of their grandson, James Arthur, on Friday, May 9, at Hilton Coliseum at Iowa State University in Ames. James graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and in management. His aunt, Teresa TeKolste of Altoona, also attended. James is the son of John and Regina Arthur of Iowa City.

The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
The meditation, "A Way in the Wilderness" based on Exodus 14:21-25, was given by Wilma McAllister. People have always been involved in God's Miracles. God makes a way for those who are obedient.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order. Members read together the U.C.W. opening creed.
Wilma McAllister reported the Dorcas women's sewing group worked on quilts for the VA Hospital at the May 12 meeting that was held in her home. Two quilts were completed.
A thank-you for the prayer quilt has been received. Also thank-yous for the demonstration dolls the group made that were given to Blank Hospital in Des Moines. Twenty-one pillows were made and given to the HeadStart program in Washington. A large signed paper pillow was received from the students at Head Start.
The Least Coin Offering prayer was recited and a collection taken.
Four camperships were approved for attendance at the Summer Games University in Grinnell. The camperships are being given to four United Church of Crawfordsville young people. The UCW will pay for the transportation cost for two United Church of Crawfordsville youth who will be traveling to Washington, D.C., with the Washington United Methodist Church group.
Lowe announced the upcoming mission summer sessions and events for United Methodist Women and the District Mission Day to be held in November 2014. She also shared some ideas from Vision and Views regarding thoughts to have upon awakening each morning. Dorcas will meet June 9 and June 23.
There will be no June U.C.W meeting.
Lowe closed the meeting with Scripture from Psalms 59-1 and Psalm 103:8.
Members recited the closing creed together.
Refreshments were served by Wilma McAllister.
Visitors during the May 17 weekend in the home of Wilma McAllister were her granddaughter, Steph Keeton from the Kansas City area, her cousin, Barbara and Fred Stam from Fallston, Md., and her daughter, Chris and Steve Williams of Anamosa. Local family members joined all for a Sunday meal.
The Membership and Mission Committee of the United Church of Crawfordsville will have the annual HACAP food drive on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall.
They will provide a wonderful meal of fish, potatoes, salad and dessert, all for the cost of a bag of groceries. or paper products to be given to HACAP.
Donors are asked not to bring outdated canned goods or home-canned goods.
Come and enjoy an evening of Fellowship and a fantastic meal. Everyone welcome!
The Crawfordsville Lions will host a blood drive at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Monday, June 2, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.
