On Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society met at the Olds United Church of Christ. President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened the meeting with the group singing Sword of Gold.
Thirteen members answered roll call with 'An unusual gift you have received.”
The September minutes were approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE: Marlys Fear, Corresponding Secretary reviewed items from the 'Tips and Tails” newsletter. Missy Fear reported she had completed the state officer chapter survey and had emailed it back.
The treasurer's report was given by treasurer Missy and will be filed for audit. She thanked everyone for their timely payment of dues. She has completed the membership report as well and turned it into the state office.
AUDITING COMMITTEE: Lisa Kempf and Sharon Beattie completed the audit of the financial records and reported everything in order.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
CAMP: Two girls have been contacted and have accepted the invitation to go to camp. Nancy McGohan reported she has purchased water bottles, blankets and towels for the campers for next summer. She also reported that Chapter L received a certificate from the T.T.T. National Campers Project for meeting the goal of sending three girls to camp. The certificate was presented for record to Historian Karolyn Crawford.
CHARITY AND CAMP GIRLS GIFTS: Nothing to report.
WAYS and MEANS: Karolyn reported tip night at the Mt. Pleasant Pizza Ranch will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 5-8 p.m. Please plan to help support this fundraising mission. The Bazaar will be held at the November meeting, each member should bring two items to auction.
NEW BUSINESS: A T.T.T. pin from a former member, who they thought had lost it was found and turned in. Discussion was held concerning purchasing gift cards for this year's camp girls for Thanksgiving/Christmas gifts. It was moved, seconded and a motion made to do this.
BILLS FOR PAYMENT: Nancy presented a bill for camp supplies and a motion was made, seconded and carried to pay this.
INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS: The officers for the coming year are: President-Barb Shelman; Vice President-Nancy McGohan; Treasurer-Missy Fear; Recording Secretary-Jen Slagel; Corresponding Secretary- Rachelle Fear and Historian-Karolyn Crawford.
ADJOURNMENT: President Shelman thanked Helen Mullin and Karolyn for refreshments. The next meeting will be Nov. 25, at the United Church of Crawfordsville with Tammy Erwin and Leah Woline serving as hostesses. The bazaar will be held. Roll call will be 'your favorite month of the year.”

On Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019, the Crawfordsville American Legion held their annual Halloween Costume Party at the Crawfordsville Elementary School.
Jason and Christina Collier dressed as clowns were the judges and of the many, many entrants there were two Grand Prize winners, Kylee Penfield as a Scarecrow and Trinity Green as Unicorn.
Those participating in the Class for ages under One Year Old were: Kinsley Robertson, Avery Boylan and Sawyer Rugg and Riley Miller; One to Three Years Old: Reagan Hill, Paxton Davis, Merrick Davis, Jaxson Davis, Jada Davis, Olivia Driscoll, Wyatt Driscoll, Rylee Boylan and Noah Ensminger, Asher Miller and Liam Powers; Pre-K: Kylee Penfield, Henry Farrell, Blaine Driscoll, Serenity Lowery, Caffrey Robinson and Jaxon Miller; Kindergarten-1st Grade: Brysen Davis, Khayden Lintz, Makinley Davis, Peyton Davis, Trinity Green, Jessup Collier and Skye Kerns; 2nd-3rd Grade: Jeremy Collier, Javan Davis and Dante Green, Olive Bailey and Charlie Bailey; 4th and 5th Grade: Athena Powers and Izzy Felts; 6th Grade and up: Damien Powers and Izzy Collier. In the Adult Class, Scott and Jeanne Davis participated.
Following the judging Donuts, Milk and Coffee was served.
Legionnaires helping with the event were: Mike Massey, Ernest Whiting, Jr., David Cerka, Scott Davis, Steve Davis and Eric Davis.
In 4-H Club news: The Crooked Creek 4-H Club received the Community Service Award for their donations of Hygiene Kits to the Ronald McDonald House and the Children's Stead Hospital in Iowa City. Sierra Gillis chaired this project and there were several other individual awards given to other Crooked Creek 4-H Club members. In the Green Acres 4-H Club Audrey Smith and Zoey Dennler both participated. Audrey received the Outstanding Record Book and Participant of Excellent Award and Zoey received the Outstanding Record Book and Participant of Excellence Award, Project Awards in Dog and Horse, as well as the Intermediate Citizenship Award.
In church news, the Church has purchased unlimited access through Right Now Media to tons of Christian children's videos, plus over 14, 000 Bible study videos for adults.
