Josh and Brooke Hesseltine are the proud parents of their first child, a son. Bentley Glenn was born Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Glenn Hesseltine of Crawfordsville, Chris and Rick Stauffer of Mount Pleasant, and Keith and Brenda Lyon of Brighton.

Josh and Brooke Hesseltine are the proud parents of their first child, a son. Bentley Glenn was born Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. He weighed 7 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Glenn Hesseltine of Crawfordsville, Chris and Rick Stauffer of Mount Pleasant, and Keith and Brenda Lyon of Brighton.

The United Church Women met Tuesday, Dec., 10, 2013, at the United Church of Crawfordsville for a potluck luncheon, which was followed by the December meeting. Pastor Jason Collier was a guest for lunch.
The meditation "The Christmas Dove" was given by Pauline Richardson. The dove is a significant symbol seen in many Christmas decorations. The dove is a sign of goodwill to all, a sign of Christian love, symbolic of peace, purity, love and the Holy Spirit. She quoted several Bible references regarding the dove.
President Debbie Lowe called the business meeting to order. Members read together the UCW opening creed. Minutes were corrected to read that a total of 208 kits were taken to the Bishop's In-Gathering held in November in Mount Pleasant.
Members shared verbally some of the personal blessings they are thankful for as they contributed to their "blessing box." The blessing boxes were collected from the UCW members and the money collected will be given to the WACO school nurse to use for student needs.
The UCW had met in November to pack "goodie boxes." The boxes were filled with cookies and treats made by UCW members. Thank-you notes were read from persons who had received a box.
Donations to Kids Against Hunger, Camp Wyoming and the Wesley Foundation were acknowledged by those organizations.
The 2014 program books were distributed.
Dorcas completed 12 quilts on Dec. 9, and the quilts were blessed by Pastor Jason. The quilts will be taken to the Fellowship Cup in Mount Pleasant for distribution.
Christmas cards with monetary gifts have been sent to local serviceman and women serving in the military.
Following the Fellowship of the Least Coin, Chris Malmberg shared information about sites where the Least Coin offering is used.
A donation was made to the youth group for assisting with the Harvest Supper.
Attendees were reminded of Christmas caroling on Sunday, Dec. 15, and the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24, at the United Church of Crawfordsville. All are welcome to attend.
Hostesses were Pauline Richardson and Ruth Erwin.
Members joined in the closing creed. Lowe read Scripture from Isaiah 9:6 to close the meeting.
