Thirteen members of the UCW, Pastor Jason Collier and guest Shirley Pfeifer, UMW Shepherdess met in the Fellowship Hall at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Tuesday, April 11, at 2 p.m.
Donna Fletcher gave the meditation ?I?m not Going? from Erma Bombeck?s book and a reading from ?God?s Little Devotional,? followed by prayer.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read together.
Billie Jo Rose, Secretary read the minutes of the Feb. 14, meeting and also the minutes from the March 2, World Day of Prayer. They were approved as read.
The treasurer?s report was given by treasurer Pat Miller. There were no additions or corrections and will be filed for audit.
Correspondence: thank you notes from the UMW District Officers for their meeting and lunch here and from Bidwell Riverside.
Local Activities: the church hosted the District Officers gathering and lunch on March 11.
Dorcas: Wilma reported nine ladies and Jason had met on April 10 and finished four quilts and have five others ready or nearly ready to be tied. Donna had finished 20 dresses to be given for missionary trips.
The usual cards had been sent and gift given to the Malmberg?s for their 50th anniversary.
The regular offering and Least Coin offering were taken and the Fellowship of the Least Coin was read in unison.
Study and Devotions/Mission Outreach: Clarissa shared a message on Pakistan and how the Batis Center for Women help in getting computers and software and uploading the websites. Ruth presented the Birthday offering which is taken once a year and supports missions for women and children throughout the world.
It was announced that the Spring Rummage Sale will be held Thursday, April 27, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Friday, April 28, from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 8 a.m.- 12 p.m.
New business: UMW Shepherdess Shirley Pfeifer told about her mission trip to Costa Rica in March .
Upcoming Events:
UPW: Spring Workshop: Saturday, April 29 in Winfield from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Next regular meeting will be held on May 9. Pat Miller will be hostess and have the meditation. Three Youth are planning on attending camp this summer.
Dorcas: Next meetings April 24 and May 8.
Work Committees: April - Pauline Richardson and Janet Whiting and May - Margaret Patterson and Billie Jo Rose.
Pastor Jason told of being chosen for a trip to the Holy Lands from February 12-22 sponsored by the Nights Templer of Albia, Iowa.
Following a motion to adjourn, the Closing Creed was read in unison. Deb thanked Donna for being hostess.
