The United Church Women met Tuesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville with nine members and one guest, Virginia McCurdy present.
Pat Miller gave the meditation "Spring Surprises" from a Season of Renewal by Charles R. Swindoll.
Deb Lowe, president, called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read in unison.
Guest Virginia McCurdy gave a presentation on aprons that she had brought samples of. The UCW have been considering ordering aprons with the church name on them to be used at local functions. She provided several different options and they will be ordered at a later date. She also provided everyone with cute animal bookmarks.
The minutes of the April 12 meeting were given by secretary Billie Jo Rose and they were approved as presented.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave the treasurer's report and it will be filed for audit.
The regular offering was taken.
In correspondence, thank you notes were read from the UPW in Washington for helping with their Spring Workshop.
Wilma reported on activities at Dorcas. Several quilts had been finished, with some ready to tie. Five gift quilts had been delivered and four taken to U.I.H.C.
Billie Jo reported cards had been sent.
Clarissa Malmberg reported on the support given by United Methodist Women through seminary scholarships. The Least Coin offering was taken and the Fellowship of the Least Coin was recited.
A report was given on the Spring Rummage Sale.
The Alumni Banquet is in the planning process.
There was no new business or upcoming events.
There will not be a June meeting. The next regular meeting will be July 12. Joyce Huff will have devotions and be hostess.
Dorcas will meet May 23, June 13 and June 27.
Work Committees for May are Rachel Koehler and Margaret Patterson; June is Donna Fletcher and Wilma McAllister and July is Pauline Richardson and Clarissa Malmberg.
Following a motion to adjourn Deb shared Scripture from Hebrews 11:1 and Psalm 25:4.
The Membership and Mission Committee of the United Church of Crawfordsville is planning a Mission Fish Fry at the church on Sunday, June 5, 2016. You are asked to bring can goods or non-perishable items to be given to HACAP in Washington. Be sure nothing is outdated.
Wesley and Kaitlyn Love of Ainsworth became the parents of a baby boy, Isaac William Love on Monday, May 16, 2016, weighing 9 pounds 2 ounces at WCHC. He is welcomed home by big brother, Lawson, 2 1/2 years. Isaac arrived on grandma Carolyn Love's birthday. Other grandparents are Larry and Nancy Love of Crawfordsville and Ed and Kathy Wintermeyer of Mt. Pleasant. Great-grandmothers are Fern Clang of Crawfordsville and Joann Love of Washington.
