The regular meeting of Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society was held Monday, April 22, 2019, at the Olds United Church of Christ. President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened the meeting with the group singing the Sword of Gold.
Meditations were provided by Glenda Alvine. She read an excerpt of a meditation about love.
Twelve members answered roll by telling their favorite childhood game.
Minutes of the previous month's meeting were given and approved as read.
CORRESPONDENCE:
Marlys Fear read a thank-you note from the National T.T.T. Society thanking the Chapter for their donation.
The Treasurer's report was given by Missy Fear and will be filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Camp:
Barb Shelman, Nancy McGohan and Rachelle Fear met with the girls and took them shopping. Their biggest decision was deciding where to eat. A few items are still needed for camp and Nancy will reach out to one who contributed last year. Camp is June 2-7. Nancy and Barb will take the girls to the bus on June 2 and Rachelle, Missy and Marlys will pick them up in Mt. Pleasant on June 7.
Gifts:
Pat Miller sent birthday cards last month.
Ways and Means:
Karolyn Crawford reported that the group is set up to bus tables May 13 at the Washington Pizza Ranch. A date still is being worked on at the Mt. Pleasant location.
OLD BUSINESS:
Barb and Nancy reported on their trip to State T.T.T. Convention in Coralville. The theme this year was Mission Possible. They went to both workshops and got several ideas on how to recruit new members and how to raise funds. Two liter pop bottles and a 16-20 oz. pop bottle needs to be sent with the girls to camp as they are going to play a game there and these will be needed. The new president for the Iowa T.T.T. Organization is Rachel Bly from Grinnell and the state convention next year will be held in Grinnell on March 27 and 28.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Henry County Conservation Board has been contacted regarding sponsoring the campers again this year.
BILLS FOR PAYMENT:
Several bills were presented for payment and motions were made, seconded, approved to do so.
ADJOURNMENT:
President Shelman thanked Glenda for meditations and her and Marlys and Glenda for refreshments.
The next meeting is May 20 and the camp girls shower will be held. The meeting will be held at the Olds United Church of Christ. Hostesses will be Ruth Erwin and Betty Molander.
The meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed.
Doug and Crystal Marsh returned to their home in Enumclaw, Washington following a week's visit with relatives in the area.
Marriage Night will be held May 17 at 7 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville. This is a livestream experience through Right Source Media. There is a registration charge which will be refunded when you come to the event. If interested contact Pastor Jason for instructions on how to register.
Hospice of Washington County is looking for volunteers. Those interested must attend a class or complete a self study. During the training volunteers will be taught how to handle situations that may arise and make them confident to be able to help workers. Jason and Samantha Watson, of Ames, welcomed their first child, a son, Theodore (Theo) Keith Watson on April 10, 2019, weighing 6 lbs. 4 oz. and 19 inches long. Proud grandparents are Steve and Janice Williams, of Crawfordsville, and Virginia Watson and Scott and Carol Watson, all of Ft. Madison. Great-grandmother is Norma Jennings, of Columbus Junction.
