Eight members of the White Cloud Club met at Gussy's for an 11:30 a.m. lunch meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019.
Pauline Richardson was hostess and had nice treats on the table for everyone.
This was the first meeting of the club's 80th year of neighborhood meetings.
Following lunch, Pauline opened the business meeting with 'An Autumn Wonderland and The Harvest” from Ideal magazine. She handed out new program books and the Secretary asked for roll call 'What your 1st vehicle was.”
Minutes were read and the treasurer's report was given and approved. Dues were also paid. A bill was paid to Betty Lintz for printing books. A picture will be given to each guest for the special year.
Those attending were: Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells.
The next meeting will be a Christmas luncheon at the home of Jolene Colthurst in Washington on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. A gift and cookie exchange will be held.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at 6:30 p.m., at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 members present and one guest, Jason Massey present.
Lion President Larry Swailes called the meeting to order and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Gene Miller led the club in prayer.
After a delicious dinner prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. The minutes of the Oct. 28, 2019 meeting were approved as read. There was no treasurer's report.
Old Business:
Lion Mike Massey will check with the electrician about the Christmas lights and the poles. Lion Gene Lintz will check the lights. Lights will be mounted the first nice weekend by Lion Randy Finke and company. It was moved, seconded and approved to hold the Annual Christmas Drawing on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m., at the Fire Station. It was noted that we need to prepare more Santa bags this year as we ran short last year. One concern from previous years had to do with making sure that people outside of Crawfordsville mailing routes receive cards for the drawing. Lion Billie Jo Rose will start to compile a list of people that will be presented at the next meeting; club members will be asked to add to that list, as well. Lion Nancy will make the cards. The Blood Drive will take place Dec. 2, from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Each donor will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt for donating. The Diabetes Educator, Amy Martin, will be at the blood drive to do blood glucose screenings.
New Business:
Club members were asked to think about where they would like to have their Christmas party. The subject of having a club Facebook page was brought up. This was tabled until the next meeting. It was moved, seconded and approved to have the treasurer make the annual donations to the Iowa Lions Foundation and Lions Clubs International Foundation.
Tail Twister Larry Fletcher entertained the club with a rousing round of Trivia.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned
