The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Sixteen members were present, along with guest Alan Olson of the Iowa Lions Foundation. Club president Loree Stogdill brought the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Randy Finke and Craig Koehler, the meeting reconvened.

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Sixteen members were present, along with guest Alan Olson of the Iowa Lions Foundation. Club president Loree Stogdill brought the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Randy Finke and Craig Koehler, the meeting reconvened.
Alan Olson, Trustee for the Iowa Lions Foundation, spoke to the club about where their donations go: cochlear implants, Department for the Blind, Kidsight, Eye Bank, hearing aids, School for the Deaf and the state Puppy program. He encouraged the club to increase their contributions.
The secretary read the minutes of the Feb. 8 meeting and they were approved as read. The treasurer?s report was given. It was also mentioned that there are enough funds for another Warren Coleman award.
Correspondence was read from the Iowa Lions Foundation thanking the club for their donations, from Camp Courageous for the donation and an invitation to the Iowa Wesleyan Club Charter Night on April 18 at the University.
Old Business: Plenty of pork was available and around 265 people were served.
New Business: RAGBRAI is coming through this summer and will spend the night in Washington before going on to Columbus Junction. There is a possibility of partnering with the Columbus Junction Club to sell pork chops and pork burgers to the riders. Lion Scott will check with the Columbus Club. The Easter egg hunt will be held April 2 and the road-side cleanup is scheduled for April 9 at 9 a.m.
The slate of officers for 2016-17 was presented for nomination: president Billie Jo Rose; first vice president Lance Miller; second vice-president Craig Koehler; third vice president Adam Mitchell; secretary Nancy Love; treasurer-Randy Finke; Tail Twister Larry Fletcher; Lion Tamer-Mike Massey; One-Year Directors Scott Davis and Gene Lintz and Two-Year Directors Mindy Wilson and Larry Swailes.
The meeting adjourned.
The Crawfordsville Fire Department will hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning, April 2, from 6 to 9 a.m. There will be a free-will offering.
The Crawfordsville Community Club/Crawfordsville Lions Club will sponsor an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. at the Crawfordsville Ball Field immediately following the Fire Department pancake breakfast. There will be a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.
