White Cloud Club met Tuesday, April 5, for lunch at El Oasis in Winfield, with nine members and one guest present.
President Jolene Colthurst opened the meeting with the poem, ?Season of Promise.? Roll call was answered by members telling how many tablecloths they had.
Secretary Pauline Richardson read the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer?s report. There was no old or new business.
Those attending were hostess Wanda Schultz, Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson and guest, Fran Lowe.
The next meeting is Tuesday, May 2 at 11:30 a.m. at Sassy?s in Wayland. There will be a plant and bulb exchange.
The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Tuesday, April 12, at 2 p.m. with nine ladies present.
The meditation was given by Donna Fletcher on the history of the oldest hymns, dating from the eighth century from the book ?Then Sings my Soul? by Robert J. Morgan.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read together.
The minutes of the Feb. 9, and March 4, meetings were approved as read. Treasurer Pat Miller gave the treasurer?s report
The regular offering and Least Coin offering were taken and the Fellowship of the Least Coin was read in unison.
In correspondence Thank You notes were read.
Wilma McAllister reported work that had been done at the Dorcas meetings.
The usual cards had been sent.
The program on the Birthday Offering was given by Ruth Erwin, emphasizing children in need and an offering was taken.
The T-Shirt/Apron report was updated by Cathy Williams, with no decisions being made. This item was tabled until next month.
It was announced the UP Spring Workshop will be held Thursday, April 21 in at the UP Church in Washington, with Crawfordsville UCW providing refreshments during registration.
The Spring Rummage Sale at UCC is April 21, 22, 23. A sign-up sheet for workers has been filled out and Tuesday, April 19, at 9 a.m. is when the ladies will meet to put things out. Items may be brought to the church anytime now for the sale.
In upcoming events: The UMW: The Faith Community?s Response to Domestic Violence will be held in Burlington April 21, at the First Methodist Church. UPW: the Spring Workshop in Washington.
The next regular meeting is Tuesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. with Pat Miller as hostess and meditations.
Dorcas will meet April 25, May 9, and May 23 at 9:30 a.m.
The April Work Committee is Cathy Williams and Clarissa Malmberg and May is Rachael Koehler and Margaret Patterson.
Following a motion to adjourn, the Closing Creed was read together. President Deb thanked Donna for being hostess.
Deb closed with Galatians 6:9 which says ?Don?t get tired of doing what is good. Don?t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time.?
Everyone is encouraged to attend the UCW Spring Rummage Sale at the United Church of Crawfordsville Fellowship Hall beginning Thursday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m; Friday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m; and Saturday, April 23, from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be clothing of all sizes, infants through adults, household goods, knickknacks, toys and much more. Something for everyone.
