Eleven members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club and two guests met at the Hills Bank in Washington for their Oct. 15, 2019 meeting. President Clarissa Malmberg led the group in the Flag Salute and the Club Collect.
The program was 'Spending a Day Learning about Choices Support Group.” Janice Twinam, program leader, introduced guest speaker Jill Boileu. Jill spoke of her work as manager of CHOICES Drop-in Center in Washington.
The business meeting followed the program. Several book briefs were given and books were shared for reading. Secretary/Treasurer Debbie Lowe read the minutes from the Sept. 18, 2019 meeting, which were approved as read. The treasurer's report was given. The club welcomed new member, Lynn Loula.
The club will meet for a Dutch treat lunch at Circa 59 at Halcyon House at noon on Nov. 13, 2019. Following lunch, the group will tour the Veterans Museum as they spend the day remembering Veterans. Donations for Lending Hands will be collected. Hostess and program leader will be Clarissa Malmberg.
Hostesses Ruth Erwin and Maxine Martin served delicious refreshments following the adjournment of the meeting.
Schantz-Mitchell Post #593 will host their annual Costume Halloween Party on Thursday, Oct. 31. Judging of the costumes will begin at 5:30 p.m., for ages Preschool through sixth grade. There also will be an adult class. Donuts, milk and coffee will be served following the judging of costumes.
Following refreshments, they may go Trick of Treating around town. People should put their porch lights on if they want them to stop at their house.
Carolyn Steele returned recently from a week's visit with her sister Cathy Flam in Coweta, OK.
There is a new food pantry opening in the WACO school area that will serve all individuals and families that need food in the district.
The United Church of Crawfordsville will open a pantry filled with perishable and non-perishable food twice a month, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 31, as well as Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 from 3:30 until 6:30 p.m. All food is free. Please bring your own bags if possible and enter through the single door on the northeast side of the church.

Once again there will be a Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day at the WACO High School. This is a free meal and open to all members of the community. If you would like to help with this contact Greg Stacy at 319-461-0576.
