Arvid and Joan Anderson observed their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 27, 2014. They were married on Dec. 27, 1949 at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church.
Daughter Kay and husband Jim of Des Moines were visitors during the holidays.
On Sunday, Dec. 28, they went to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area to have Christmas and celebrate their anniversary with all the family present: Ed and Leanne Anderson, Tim and Shelby Walsten, Tobias and Finley, Taylor and Amy Anderson, Leighton and Maxwell, Kaytlyn Anderson and Kay and Jim Trager.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Fifteen members were present.
In the absence of the president, Second Vice President Billie Jo Rose called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Darrell Egli offered the opening prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, President Mindy Rochwick reconvened the meeting.
The minutes of the Nov. 24 and Dec. 8 meetings were approved as read. The treasurer's report was given, including proceeds from the December auction.
Correspondence: A letter was received, along with two banner patches congratulating the club on meeting membership criteria for 2014. It was brought to the attention of members that the Olds Lions Club planned a soup supper for Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Swedesburg Parish Hall, and the Lone Tree Lions Club's pancake supper will be Jan. 16.
Old Business: The December Blood Drive was very successful. The donor goal was 43, which was exceeded by having 51 donors. There was discussion about making a donation to the church for the use of the Fellowship Hall. It was moved, seconded and approved to make a donation for this usage. It was noted that the Christmas lights will be taken down whenever the weather cooperates.
Pancake Supper: This will serve as the first meeting in February. Tickets were distributed.
This event will be held at the WACO Elementary School and serving is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from any Lions member.
Larry Love will take care of procuring pigs. Loree Stogdill is in charge of publicity. Randy Finke will contact the Leo Club. Mike Massey will order milk and Steve Williams will oversee the cooking of sausage.
The meeting adjourned after which Larry Fletcher embarked on an intriguing game of trivia.
