Thirteen attended the 11:30 a.m. luncheon of the Wyman Community Clubon Monday, Nov. 2, at the Frontier in Washington. Those attending were Robert and Lucille Humphreys, Margaret Patterson, Ruth Erwin, Frieda Finke and Billie Jo Rose of Crawfordsville; Vivan and Eileen Jennings of Columbus Junction; Wilma Vosburg of Grinnell, Ruth Johnston of Ainsworth and Audrey Finke, Jane Kaczinski and Peggy Buffington of Washington. They will meet again for lunch at the Frontier on Monday, Dec. 7.
The White Cloud Club met Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the El Oasis in Winfield where everyone enjoyed lunch. New program books were distributed and a new member, Margaret Patterson was welcomed. Each answered roll call by naming their favorite cat or dog. The next meeting will be a 12:30 p.m. brunch at the home of Jolene Colthurst in Washington on Tuesday, Dec.1. Everyone is asked to bring two dozen cookies or candy to share and a gift exchange will be held.
Those attending were Lennis Beichter, Julia Bletscher, Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson and Wanda Schultz.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 members present. President Loree Stogdill called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Alllegiance. Lion Larry Love offered prayer.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened. The minutes of the Oct. 26, meeting were approved as read. The treasurer, Lion Randy Finke, gave his report.
After much discussion, it was moved, seconded and approved to sponsor a leader dog. It was also noted that there is a waiting list, but in order to get on the list, the fee is due now.
Lion Adam Mitchell reported that the Haunted Hall which was co-sponsored by the club, along with the Crawfordsville Community Club was a hit.
After much discussion about the state of the Christmas lights, whether to repair them one more year, or buy a different kind of decoration that doesn't light, it was concluded that the lights would be hung this year and will not be turned on. They will be put up the Saturday after Thanksgiving, meeting at 9 a.m. at the old fire station.
The Blood Drive is Monday, Nov. 30. Lions Billie Jo, Loree and Mike will assist Larry Fletcher with calling. There was also a plea for sweet treats.
The Christmas dinner party was discussed . Lions Billie Jo and Luetta are in charge of arrangements. Further details will be released soon. Lion Billie Jo will be taking reservations for those wanting to attend.
The Christmas Drawing is Dec.19, at the Fire Station. The 4-H Club will hold its Bake Sale from noon to 1 p.m. Santa will arrive at 12:30 p.m. and the drawing will start at 1 p.m. Solicitors for prizes for drawing are Joel Greene, Larry Love, Gene Lintz and Gene Miller.
It was moved, seconded and approved to pay the club's sponsorship for the WACO Leo Club. After much discussion, it was moved, seconded and approved to move the February Pancake Supper to the third Saturday in February, this year being Feb. 20. Serving hours will remain 4 to 7 p.m. and Larry Swailes will take care of supplies, etc.
There was no new business. The meeting adjourned. Tail Twister Larry Fletcher offered his usual smorgasbord of Trivia.
