The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.
The meditation was given by Dorothy Sands. Basing her meditation on Psalms 145: submitting to the plan God created, she used the transformation of the caterpillar to a butterfly. God transforms us to be better if we allow him to do so. She also used the beauty and sound of the birds as examples of God's work.

The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.
The meditation was given by Dorothy Sands. Basing her meditation on Psalms 145: submitting to the plan God created, she used the transformation of the caterpillar to a butterfly. President Debbie Lowe presided over the meeting. Members read together the UCW opening creed,
Wilma McAllister reported 13 quilts have been completed and taken to the Fellowship Cup, new quilts are being made.
The Least Coin Offering prayer was recited and a collection taken.
Chris Malmberg told about the 2015 U.M.W. Reading Program.
Helen Lease reports she is continuing to assemble the kits for the U.M. In-gathering to be held Saturday, Nov. 1 at Mt. Pleasant. One hundred fifty-four kits have been completed.
Pastor Collier reported the WACO "Back Pack" program is in progress, serving WACO students and families.
Upcoming events were announced. Dorcas will meet at the UCC Nov. 20 to prepare holiday boxes, members are to bring food items for the boxes.
In closing, members recited the Closing Creed together.
President Lowe closed the meeting with Scripture from Luke 16:10.
Refreshments were served by Julia Bletscher.
Ten members of the Wednesday Study Club traveled to West Branch, on Oct. 15, to visit the "America's First Ladies" exhibit at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Museum. It was a pleasant, sunny day and some trees were showing their fall colors.
Following the museum visit, a stop was made at the "Pink Pony" on Main Street to indulge in ice cream, pie and other goodies.
A short business meeting was conducted. Business consisted of announcing the date change for the November meeting to be held Nov. 12, 2014 instead of Nov. 19.
The planned speaker, Jenny Kaufman will not be available on the regular meeting day of the third Wednesday. Jenny will speak about the WACO "Back Pack" program.
The meeting will be held at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 2 p.m. Members are reminded to bring food donations for the back packs.
The meeting adjourned.
The Crawfordsville Community Club will once again sponsor a Haunted Hall Oct. 25, 31 and Nov. 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Crawfordsville. There is a cost per person.
The Crawfordsville American Legion will hold their annual Halloween Costume Party at the WACO Elementary School Oct. 31 at 5:30 p.m. There will be judging of costumes for preschool through adults. Refreshments will follow. Everyone welcome! Trick or Treating will follow.
