The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.13, with 11 members in attendance.

Julia Bletscher presented the meditation from ?Life Beautiful? magazine. President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and everyone read the opening creed together. Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the Sept. 8, meeting. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept these as amended.

The treasurer?s report was presented by treasurer Pat Miller and will be filed for audit.There was no correspondence.

Committee Reports: There are sign-up sheets for 2016 work committees and two other events happening in October.

Dorcas: Wilma reported the ladies had made many baby quilts and they had been delivered to various places. The ladies will meet next on Monday, Oct. 26. They stress everyone is welcome to join them.

Cards, Flowers and Gifts: Many cards had been sent.

Study and Devotions /Mission Outreach: The Least Coin Offering was taken and the prayer read in unison. The 2016 sign-ups are nearly completed for the hostesses and devotions for UCW.

Old Business: Some aspects of kitchen remodeling were discussed and will be discussed further at the next meeting.

New Business: Items concerning the youth group were discussed.

Upcoming Events/News Items: Several UMW meetings are upcoming, as well as those of the UPW. The next UCW meeting will be Tueday, Nov. 10, Debbie Lowe will have the meditation and be hostess. The group will meet Thursday, Nov. 19, at 9:30 a.m. to prepare holiday boxes.

The Work Committee for October: Clarissa Malmberg and Billie Jo Rose. The Harvest Sale will be Saturday, Oct. 24. Serving will be from 4:30-6:45 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7 p.m.

Charge Conference will be held at Crawfordsville with A.C.C. present on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2:30 p.m.

November Work Committee: Cathy Williams and Ann Lewis.

Following a motion to adjourn, the members read together the UCW Closing Creed. President Debbie thanked hostess Julia Bletscher and closed with the Scripture Psalms:119:105.

Everyone is reminded of the Crawfordsville Community Club and the Crawfordsville Lions Club?s Halloween Event at the Legion Hall Saturday, Oct. 24, 30 and 31 from 7-10 p.m. Preceding this on Saturday evening, Oct. 31, the Crawfordsville American Legion will be holding its annual Halloween costume party at the WACO Elementary School beginning at 5:30 p.m. Preschool through adults are welcome to participate. Milk, donuts and coffee will be served in the school lunchroom following the judging.
