On Monday, July 22, 2019, members of Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society met at the Olds United Church of Christ. Prior to the meeting Zoey Dennler, a former camp girl, shared her experiences about her year as Miss Junior Rodeo Iowa.
President Barb Shelman called the meeting to order and opened with the group singing Sword of Gold.
Sixteen members answered roll call with 'Someone Famous You'd Like to Spend the Day With.”
The June minutes were read and approved with no additions or corrections.
CORRESPONDENCE: Nothing to report
TREASURER'S REPORT: Treasurer Missy Fear gave the treasurer's report and it will be filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
CAMP: Names were discussed for girls to send to camp next year. Barb spoke with the elementary principal at WACO on how to best reach out to the girls. It was suggested the Camp Chairs or someone from this group meet with someone at school to discuss camp and then they would reach out to families for this group.
Expenses were mentioned for cost of sending girls to camp and it was about the same as last year. It was also mentioned that two sheet sets for camp girls had been received for next year.
CHARITY: Discussion was held regarding gift cards for school supplies for the upcoming year to recent camp girls and it was decided to send cards to the most current camp girls.
CAMP GIRLS GIFTS: Two birthday cards had been sent this month. A thank-you note had been received from one camp girl graduate.
WAYS and MEANS: Leah will call the Pizza Ranch in Mt. Pleasant and set up a time for tip night.
OLD BUSINESS: The 60th National T.T.T. Convention will be held Oct. 24-26 in Cedar Rapids. Leah Woline volunteered to be a delegate. A motion was made, seconded and approved to send Leah. If anyone else would like to go this issue can be revisited in September. Reservations for the convention need to be in by Oct. 14 and hotel reservations need to be in by Sept. 29.
NEW BUSINESS, BILLS FOR PAYMENT AND PROPOSAL FOR NAMES FOR MEMBERSHIP: Nothing to report.
ADJOURNMENT: President Shelman thanked Missy Fear and Bailey Lillywhite for the refreshments. The next meeting will be Sept. 23 at the Olds United Church of Christ with Sally Anderson and Lisa Kempf as hostesses. Sally will provide meditations. Roll call will be 'A Profession You Would Like to Try.”

Maggie Smith and Tyler Robertson became the parents of a daughter, Kinsley Rae on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 3:10 a.m. at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 19 inches long. Proud grandparents are Sonya Love-Smith of Crawfordsville and Clyde Smith of Brighton and Amber and John Robertson of Mt. Pleasant. Great-grandparents are Carolyn Love and Larry and Nancy Love, all of Crawfordsville, and Joann Love of Washington is Kinsley's great-great grandmother.
The Fall Rummage Sale at the United Church of Crawfordsville will be held Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. , Thursday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. -6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Clothing for all ages, household items, books, toys, some furniture, small appliances, home decor, etc., all offered for a free will donation. Monies realized will go to various church missions.
