The United Church Women met Tuesday, January 12, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville with 12 ladies present.
Wilma McAllister gave the meditation "Quilts From Heaven," emphasizing how each block is different in a quilt and comparing it to the difference in all of us and how each life is different, but how God has made everything beautiful in His time. She also had a reading, "Recipe For a Happy New Year."
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and everyone read together the Opening Creed.
Secretary Billie Jo Rose read the minutes of the Dec. 8 meeting and they were approved as read.
The treaurer's report was given by Treasurer Pat Miller and will be filed for audit.
Thank-you notes were read from several charitable organizations.
The kitchen renovations are beginning to be completed with painting and electrical work to be completed.
Wilma reported the Dorcas group had canceled the Jan. 11 sewing day due to icy conditions. Many quilts had been delivered during 2015 and various other projects completed.
The usual cards had been sent.
The Call to Prayer and Self Denial program was given by Clarissa Malmberg. and the Prayer of the Least Coin was recited and the Least Coin and Regular offering taken.
The next regular meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. with meditation and hostess being Frieda Finke.
Dorcas will meet on Monday, Jan. 25 and Feb. 8.
Work Committees are: January: Pat Miller and Ruth Erwin; and February: Deb Lowe and Ann Lewis.
Following a motion to adjourn, members read together the Closing Creed.
Debbie closed with Scripture, John 15:11.
Julia Bletscher has recently moved from Iowa to Kansas and her new address is Julia Bletscher, Beninga Acres, Apt.D -Leonardville, Kansas 66449. Julia in a sense moved back home, as this is the town she and her late husband had a business in for many years.
