Wednesday Study Club met on Wednesday, March 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the Washington Pizza Hut. Twelve members were present.
After enjoying the buffet luncheon, hostess Maxine Martin introduced the speaker for the meeting, Jennine Wolf of the Washington County Environmental Health Department. She told of the health hazards often found in one?s own home, most of which residents are not aware of. One example she stressed was radon which causes cancer and is found over the acceptable limit in 53 percent of all homes in Washington County. She had test kits available for those who wished to test their homes for radon.
Following her presentation, the business meeting was led by Clarissa Malmberg, in the absence of President Cathy Williams. Following the usual book briefs, reading of minutes and treasurer?s report, the nominating committee presented their report which was unanimously accepted. Officers for the 2016-17 club year will be: President- Pauline Richardson; Vice-President- Janice Twinam; Secretary-Treasurer- Debbie Lowe, Nominating Committee- Joan Anderson, Marie Dare and Cathy Williams.
The April meeting will be April 20 at the United Church of Crawfordsville with the committee planning a?low tea.? More directions for that activity will be given when the club ?call? comes shortly before the meeting.
The Picture church directories have arrived and anyone who had their picture taken and hasn?t picked theirs up may do so at the church at any time, or you may contact Billie Jo Rose at 319-330-9955 and arrangements will be made to deliver them.
