The regular meeting of Iowa Chapter L of the T.T.T. Society was held at the Swedesburg Museum in Swedesburg, on April 28, 2014 at 7 p.m.

The regular meeting of Iowa Chapter L of the T.T.T. Society was held at the Swedesburg Museum in Swedesburg, on April 28, 2014 at 7 p.m.
President Missy Fear called the meeting to order. After the singing of "Sword of Gold," Cathy Williams provided the meditations. Fifteen members were present and answered roll call by sharing a destination they would like to travel to or visit.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Iowa State T.T.T. Treasurer Daphne Owens sent a thank-you for the chapter's donation and group's attendance at the state convention. Claire Conner from the National T.T.T. Society sent a thank-you for a donation to the National T.T.T. Society Project Fund and another for the donation in memory of Janet DeYarman to be used for the local camp girls. Marlys had also received a note from Mindy Fitzgibbon regarding her upcoming membership in Chapter L .
Lisa Kemp gave the treasurer's report, which will be filed for audit.
Nancy McGohan and Barb Shelman attended the state convention held April 11-12 in Waterloo at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. The theme this year was "Reach Out ... Make a Difference." They shared their experiences of attending two breakout sessions, "The Impact of a T.T.T. Camping Experience," and "Taking T.T.T. into the Future-The Roles of Social Media." Members are encouraged to "like" the "Friends of Iowa T.T.T. Facebook page and checked out "National T.T.T. Society" on Pinterest. The challenge given to the Iowa chapters for 2014 was to determine three ways to raise visibility about T.T.T. in the community and share those on Facebook.
A report was given by Nancy McGohan on how things were going for the girls chosen to attend camp. Nancy and Barb planned to take the girls shopping on Sunday, May 4 to get items for camp. Members were asked to consider donating to help defray camp costs for the girls.
The Ways and Means committee reminded everyone that the next meeting will consist of a plant auction and each member is asked to bring two plants to be auctioned off.
Two girls had had birthdays, and cards and gift cards will be sent to them.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, May 27 . In addition to the plant auction, a Camp Shower for the girls will also be held. Initiation of Mindy Fitzgibbon will also take place.
Bills were turned in from the state convention.
Betty Molander suggested busing tables as a fundraiser. The Ways and Means committee will discuss this and report back.
President Missy led the group in a memorial service for Janet DeYarman.
The meeting was followed by refreshments served by Louise Unkrich and Helen Mullin.
The meeting was closed by the president leading members in reciting the T.T.T. creed.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, May 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Fifteen members were present.
President Larry Fletcher called the meeting to order and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Nancy Love gave the invocation.
After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, the meeting reconvened.
The minutes of the April 28, 2014, meeting were approved as read. The treasurer reported no change in the financial status.
A flier from the Columbus Junction Lions Club advertising a pancake breakfast was shared with the club.
Upcoming events: May 19: Clean-up day at the Ball Park at 6 p.m.; June 2: Blood Drive at the United Church of Crawfordsville from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.; June 7: Car show-Randy and Steve to cook; June 23: 6 p.m. at the Ball Park getting ready for Fun Day; and July 5: Fun Day.
