The regular meeting of Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society was held Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the Olds United Church of Christ.
President Sharon Bright called the meeting to order and opened the meeting with the group singing the Sword of Gold. Fifteen members answered roll call with their favorite holiday treat. Minutes of the previous month?s meeting were read and approved with one minor name change.
The treasurer?s report was given by treasurer Lisa Kempf and will be filed for audit. Lisa also provided the report for the end of the fiscal year. Charity Committee members Marlys Fear and Joan Roth reported finishing three beautiful and unique jean quilts for Christmas gifts. Nancy McGohan will deliver them. It was reported that birthday cards had been sent to previous campers. Sharon, of Ways and Means Committee, reported that Leah Woline had asked for everyone to be reminded of the November Bazaar and that the group will be testing pizza and other frozen items from the Butter Braid company. Leah and Tammy Erwin will be hostesses in November, and the Bazaar will be held.
There was no news from the grant applications. Members were reminded to pay dues as soon as possible. Pat King reported that she had completed the audit of financial books and found everything in order. The National Project Fund requests that each chapter donate additional funds to cover the cost of camp. After discussion, the group passed a motion to do this. T-shirts will be ordered, with design and logo as suggested. Girls to Camp brochures will be sent to all fourth-grade girls with a cover letter to see who is interested in attending camp. A joint letter will also be sent to the Wayland Chapter, since both chapters are pulling girls from WACO. Girls can also be selected from other areas, not just WACO. No one expressed interested in being nominees on the State T.T.T. Board. A motion was carried to install elected officers, and the installation of officers? ceremony was completed. Officers are: president, Sharon Bright; vice president, Joan Rodgers; treasurer, Missy Fear; secretary, Barb Shelman; corresponding secretary, Marlys Fear; historian, Nancy McGohan. President Bright thanked Tina and Barb Shelman for providing refreshments. As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned with the closing creed.
The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 28, at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
Crawfordsville American Legion Post 593 hosted its annual Halloween Party, Monday evening, Oct. 31, 2016, at the WACO Elementary School in Crawfordsville. Legionnaires helping were Mike Massey, Jeff Johnston, Ernest Whiting and Darren Dennler. Judges for the evening were Sheri Horak, Dave DeLovley and Sheri Fort. There were ghosts, mummies, witches, bats, Ninjas, a candy queen, ballerinas, a Dumb Blonde wedding party, and a Little Mermaid.
