Eleven members of Wednesday Study Club met at the home of Wilma McAllister at 2 p.m. March 18, 2015.
President Cathy Williams conducted the business meeting which opened with the usual flag salute, club collect, book briefs and the the reading of the minutes and treasurer's report.
Election of officers for the club year 2015-16 was with officers of the present year unanimously elected to continue in the same positions for another year: president, Cathy Williams; vice president, Lennis Beichter; and secretary treasurer, Wilma McAllister. President Cathy announced that she would be asking for a volunteer to fill the available position on the nomination committee. Other committee members will remain the same.
There have been some changes in the program booklets. The March and April programs have been reversed. The April meeting will be on "What's Up in New York City?" and this meeting is the one originally planned for April. The June meeting place will have to be changed since the planned hostess, Lennis, will be away at that time.
The program for the day was "What's Up in the Box?" Members each brought a box of her choosing, told the story of about it and often showed the contents. The boxes were very interesting. Many were old "treasures" with a touching story that members shared.
Following the meeting, members were seated around the dining table and co-hostess Julia Bletscher assisted by daughter, Lennis served most delicious refreshments. Lots of visiting took place and Wilma even told of some of the events when the "sewing ladies" worked at that same table to make quilts for those in need.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met at 7 p.m. Monday, March 23, at the Crawfordsville Community Room. Fifteen members were present.
Lion Mindy Rochwick called the meeting to order and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Larry Love offered the invocation.
Old Business: Club members were reminded that road cleanup will take place Saturday, April 4. Those participating should meet at the flagpole at 9 a.m.
New Business: Election of officers. The following slate of officers were elected unanimously:
President: Loree Stogdill; First Vice President: Billie Jo Rose; Second Vice President: Lance Miller; Third Vice President: Craig Koehler; Secretary: Nancy Love; Treasurer: Randy Finke; Lion Tamer: Mike Massey; Tail Twister: Larry Fletcher; One-Year Directors: Larry Love and Adam Mitchell; and Two-Year Directors: Scott Davis and Gene Lintz.
Club members enjoyed delicious refreshments furnished by Craig Koehler and Randy Finke, followed by a rousing round of trivia.
The community is reminded of the Firemen/EMS Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning, April 4 at the Crawfordsville Fire Station from 6 to 9 a.m. Following that, the Community Club/Lions Club will hold an Easter Egg Hunt in the ball field behind the schoolhouse. There will be prizes and lots of candy, as over 1,000 eggs will be hidden.
