The White Cloud Club met Tuesday, April 4, at the Ainsworth Four Corners for a noon luncheon with Pat Miller as hostess.
Jolene Colthurst opened the meeting reading ?Easter Promise? from the Ideals magazine.
Roll call was answered with a variety of topics, everything from cleaning to Easter plans to knowledge about George Washington.
Pauline Richardson gave the secretary and treasurer?s report, which were approved as read.
The group sang Happy Birthday to Betty Lucas and had special cupcakes to observe her birthday, which was that day.
Frieda and Pauline reported taking Wanda Schultz a gift of goodies as she is now a resident of Sunrise Terrace in Winfield.
Discussion was held about the club?s July meeting, since it falls on the 4th. Margaret Patterson is the hostess and she questioned if the group wants to keep that day or choose another. This matter will be discussed at the next meeting on May 2, at Ainsworth Four Corners.
Those attending were Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Virginia Sands, Shannon Sells, Pauline Richardson and guest, Khayden Lintz.
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday, April 10, at the Crawfordsville Community Room with 14 members and one guest, Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider, present.
Lion President Billie Jo Rose called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Loree Stogdill gave the prayer. After a delicious meal prepared and served by Alice Hochstetler, Schneider gave a very interesting program about the Washington County Jail.
Following the program, the meeting reconvened. Lion Secretary Nancy Love read the minutes of the March 27 meeting which were approved as read. Lion treasurer Randy Finke gave the treasurer?s report and also mentioned there is still some meat for sale.
Old business: the road cleanup for April 1 was postponed and it will be rescheduled at a later date.
New business: it was moved, seconded and approved to make a donation to Meals for the Heartland, a districtwide fund-raising project. Lion Luetta Greene reported that the scholarship recipient had been chosen and that there were three applicants. It was mentioned that Lions Billie Jo Rose, Larry Love and Nancy Love attended the Friday night activities of the District Convention held on March 31 in Lone Tree. Lions Nancy and Arvid Anderson were present for the business meeting on April 1. It was also noted that Lion Nancy and Lion Larry Love visited the New London Club on March 27 at which Lion Nancy gave a presentation on diabetes awareness.
The meeting adjourned.
People can bring items for the United Church of Crawfordsville Rummage Sale anytime and leave them in an area behind the pulpit or in the library. The sale will be held the last weekend in April beginning on Thursday, April 27, through Saturday morning, April 29. There will be the regular items, including books, toys, household items, some furniture items, clothing, etc. Everyone is asked to make sure appliances, if any, are in working order. No computers or TVs.
Please be sure clothing and other items are clean. This is a great Mission Project for the United Church Women, so be sure what you bring is presentable. All these items are offered for a free-will offering.
