The Wyman Community Club met Monday, June 1, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at the Ainsworth Four Corners with 18 in attendance.
Those present were: Robert and Lucille Humphreys, Frieda Finke, Pauline Richardson, Billie Jo Rose, Ruth Erwin and Margaret Patterson of Crawfordsville; John Wittrig, Laura McPhail, and Lorrine Frame of Winfield; Al and Adeline Sents, Audrey Finke, Jane Kaczinski and Peggy Buffington of Washington; Wilma Vosburg from Grinnell and Vivan and Eileen Jennings of Columbus Junction.
John presented everyone with a group picture taken at the April meeting by his grandson, Tom McPhail. Thank you, Tom! It was much appreciated by the group.
Everyone enjoyed strawberry cake courtesy of Keith Jones, Al Sents and Billie Jo Rose for their June birthdays.
The group will meet at the Ainsworth Four Corners again on Monday, July 6, at 11:30 a.m.
An interesting side note: If anyone is wondering about the blue crosses that were placed in the Crawfordsville Cemetery over Memorial weekend, here is the story behind them.
Ron Schmitz made the crosses and Louise Schmitz and grandchildren, Ben and Brianna Schlatter painted them.
Since there is no longer a Legion Auxiliary Unit in Crawfordsville, there are no red poppies for sale. These crosses were placed at the headstones of Legion Auxiliary members to replace the poppies for this year, and hopefully, in the future there will be poppies to sell, but the crosses will still be put up, also.
The Ainsworth Community Church Mission Committee is hosting a Garage Sale June 11-13. Free-will donations support projects of the Mission Committee serving the local community-specifically, the Food Pantry and Clothes/Housewares Closet. Plan to attend and support this cause.
