Fifteen members attended the Monday, Jan. 7, luncheon meeting of the Wyman Community Club at the Ainsworth Four Corners. Fifteen members attended the Monday, Jan. 7, luncheon meeting of the Wyman Community Club at the Ainsworth Four Corners. Those present were: Keith and Pat Jones, John and Betty Wittrig and Laura McPhail of Winfield; Robert and Lucille Humphreys, Merl and Frieda Finke, Ruth Erwin and Wanda Graber and Fern Clang of Crawfordsville; and Joann Love, Peggy Buffington and Mabel Lenz from Washington.
Ruth Erwin and Peggy Buffington treated everyone to birthday cake in observance of their January birthdays.
The club?s next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 4, at the Ainsworth Four Corners.
The United Church Women met at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, with 12 members present.
President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order. Devotions were given by Wilma McAllister based on Ecclesiastes Chapter 3, verses 1-3, ?A Time for Everything.? Seasons were related to life ? ?make the most of every season, we need all of them.?
Members read together the purpose of the UCW.
Minutes of the Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 meetings were approved as read.
The treasurer?s report was read and will be filed for audit.
Dorcas were to meet at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 14, at Wilma McAllister?s home to continue work on mission sewing projects. All are invited to join this group. Dorcas routinely meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
Weddings cards were sent in December.
The Call to Prayer and Self-Denial was led by Pauline Richardson. The offering was to support a financial and stewardship Literacy program to educate persons in need of monetary management skills.
President Lowe will send membership reports to the Methodist and Presbyterian denominations.
The next UCW meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 12, at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
The meeting closed with members reciting the Closing Creed. Refreshments were served by Wilma McAllister.
Pastor Jason Collier will lead a Men?s Bible study with the first one to be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23. The first will feature a DVD series from Kyle Petty. All men are invited to be a part of this experience.
