The WACO Community Schools has a brand new sport. As of Jan. 19 the WACO School Board approved the creation of WACO Shooting Sports Team. Currently they are specializing on the game of American Trap. It happens to be the oldest Clay Shooting Sport in the United States. Currently there are 30 athletes on the team ? 13 high school and 17 junior high students.
They are a self-funding team and are relying on fundraisers and donations to get the team up and going and also to maintain the team.
Currently the students are covering their own membership fees and insurance through the National Scholastic Clay Target Program.
The team has already had two fundraisers through some area businesses. Anyone who would like to learn more about this may contact their coach, Thomas J. McNamar at WACO High School.
Anyone may make a donation to this project to WACO Foundation, designating Shooting Sports.
