Ten members of the Crawfordsville Wednesday Study Club met on June 19, 2019, to explore Wyman Rustics at the Harold and Pam Humphreys farm in rural Crawfordsville.
The group 'discovered” and viewed many interesting and creatively displayed vintage and repurposed items by the Humphreyses and four other vendors. Harold and Pam were on hand to tell about the beginnings of Wyman Rustics and the history of many of the items.
Club member Pam then invited everyone into their home for the business meeting and refreshments.
President Clarissa Malmberg led the Flag Salute and the Club Collect. The minutes of the May meeting were read and approved and the treasurer's report was given. Sign-up sheets were sent around for next year's programs, hostessing and for the program committee. Several book briefs were given.
Following the business meeting, delicious refreshments were served by Pam and co-hostess Cathy Williams.
The next meeting will held in September and will feature a salad luncheon with date, time, and place to be announced.
The Wyman Community Club met on Monday, July 1, 2019, for lunch at Ainsworth Four Corners with 13 present.
Those attending were Ruth Johnston of Ainsworth, John Wittrig and Laura Wittrig of Winfield, Jane Kaczinski of Washington, Ray and Shirley Hendrickson of Iowa City and Margaret Patterson, Ruth Erwin, Elaine Prom, Frieda Finke, Pauline Richardson, Carol Steele and Billie Jo Rose of Crawfordsville.
Ray challenged everyone to bring a story or tell an interesting experience from their past at the next meeting.
The group will meet again on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at 11:30 a.m., at Ainsworth Four Corners.
Ten members of the White Cloud Club met at the Frontier Restaurant in Wayland for lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
Margaret Patterson opened the business meeting with a crash course on the History of the Fourth of July.
Everyone answered roll call by telling if they were going to watch fireworks.
Pat Miller gave the secretary and treasurer's report.
The Club discussed the Crawfordsville Parade on July 5 and decided not to be in it. Discussion was held as to how to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club, but nothing was decided at this time.
Three Secret Sister gifts were exchanged and the club also had a White Elephant exchange. A good time was had watching what everyone received.
Those attending were Carrie Coble, Jolene Colthurst, Frieda Finke, Joyce Huff, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Margaret Patterson, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Shannon Sells.
The next meeting will be the club's potluck at 6 p.m., at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Sunday, Aug. 4, with Pat and Pauline the committee.
Theodore Keith Watson was given a warm welcome to the family and neighborhood on Saturday, June 29, at the United Church of Crawfordsville. The event was hosted by Aunt, Kristine Williams and Great-aunts, Linda Hora and Betty Lenz. Family and friends attended from Ankeny, Ames, Crawfordsville, Fort Madison, Higginsville, Iowa City, Lone Tree, Muscatine, Riverside, Stockport, Waukee, West Burlington, West Liberty and Winfield.
Theodore was born April 10 to Samantha and Jared Watson of Ames. His is the grandson of Steve and Janice Williams of Crawfordsville and Virginia Watson and Scott and Carol Watson, all of Ft. Madison.
