The United Church Women met Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville with 13 members and one guest, Shirley Pfeifer present.

President Debbie Lowe called the meeting to order and the Opening Creed was read together.
The minutes of the Jan. 12 meeting were read by secretary Billie Jo Rose and they were approved as read.
Treasurer Pat Miller gave the treasurer?s report. It will be filed for audit.
In correspondence, several thank-you notes had been received from organizations, families and individuals.
Wilma reported on the sewing day of Feb. 8.
The usual cards had been sent.
The Least Coin Offering was taken and the Prayer of the Least Coin was recited and the regular offering taken.
Brochures were passed around showing shirts and aprons that were available for purchase that members could wear when having church functions. No decision was made at this time.
Several of the UCW members will be assisting the UPW in Washington in serving breakfast refreshments at a UP Spring Workshop on Thursday, April 21.
Shirley Pfeifer, UMW shepherdess, brought greetings from the UMC and told of the violence that women face. She mentioned that April 9 is District Day Apart at Sperry beginning at 9 a.m.
In upcoming events the Synod Gathering for Presbyterian Women in the Synod of Lakes and Prairies is June 15-18 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Next meeting is Friday, March 4, World Day of Prayer at UCC with ACC ladies as guests. Tuesday, April 12, will be the next regular meeting. Meditation and hostess will be Donna Fletcher. The Birthday Offering will be taken. Dorcas will meet Feb. 22, March 14, March 28 and April 11. The work committee for February is Deb Lowe and Ann Lewis; March is Janet Whiting and Nancy Rugg and for April, Cathy Williams and Clarissa Malmberg. The Spring Rummage Sale Committee is Aline Hesseltine, Joyce Huff and Ruth Erwin.
Following a motion to adjourn, the Closing Creed was read in unison.
Deb closed with Scripture, Jeremiah 29:13.
Jim Trager, husband of Kay Anderson Trager and son-in-law of Arvid and Joan Anderson of Crawfordsville, passed away from cancer in West Des Moines on Jan. 21, 2016. They were married 32 years.
Interment was held on Jan. 29, 2016, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. with full Military honors.
Memorial services were held at McLaren?s Resthaven Chapel, West Des Moines, following burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to Mercy Cancer Center, Des Moines in Jim?s honor.
The Crawfordsville Community Club and the Crawfordsville Lions Club will sponsor a Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, March 5, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. There will be a free-will offering.
