Nick and Christie Lucas, Anna Marie and Emma Jane and Kelly Lucas of Memphis, Tenn., have returned to their home following a visit with their grandparents and great-grandparents, Allan and Betty Lucas .
Eleven members of the White Cloud Club enjoyed breakfast at the Frontier in Washington on Tuesday, June 2. Arrangements were made by Lennis Beichter.
A short business meeting was held and roll call was answered by either members telling if they liked or disliked housework or what their father's name was.
Those attending were Lennis Beichter, Julia Bletscher, Jolene Colthurst, Joyce Huff, Frieda Finke, Betty Lintz, Betty Lucas, Pat Miller, Pauline Richardson, Virginia Sands and Wanda Schultz.
The club's next meeting will be a 12:30 p.m. luncheon at the Ainsworth Four Corners on Tuesday, July 7. There will be a white elephant exchange. Janice Williams and Larry Love were the committee.
Fifteen members of the Crawfordsville Lions and one guest, Darren Rickheim met Monday evening, June 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the ball park to do a little trimming and enjoy a picnic supper consisting of pork burgers and hot dogs, salads and chips and dips and cookies for dessert.
Darren Rickhrim, a recent WACO graduate, spoke to the group about the recently organized sport of trapshooting. He told the history of trapshooting and explained the difference between it and skeet and the use of clay targets. He explained what gauge shells they use. He also told about using ear and eye protection and showed everyone his shell bag. He had participated in the State Trapshooting in Cedar Falls and teams and individuals did very well.
Lion President Mindy Wilson led the Pledge of Allegiance and Gene Miller offered prayer. There was no secretary's report. The treasurer's report was given by Randy Finke. In correspondence one thank-you note was read. It was mentioned there would be a raise in dues for the coming year.
The local club has received the group Governor's Volunteer Award given by the Department of Transportation and it will be presented at a special ceremony at Indian Hills Community College on Friday, July 10.
The club will not have a regular meeting in September because of the guest night.
Mention was made of the pancake breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 6:30 to 10 a.m.
Once again, we were entertained with a rousing game of Trivia by Tailtwister Larry Fletcher.
Randy and Jane Moore of Eureka, Mont., spent several weeks visiting her mother, Aline Hesseltine and other relatives in the area, as well as family in Champagne, Ill.
